    Thailand is still the best

I have to leave my lovely family and fly back to bkk tonight for my morning flight back to Blighty
It's only been a 3 week stay as work beckons
I have thoroughly enjoyed being home
You don't know how good you have it Britain is an awfull place compared to Thailand
Good luck guys I have tear in my eye
    But a family needs feeding
I suggest anyone who thinks Thailand is shit should go home for 12 months

^ It depends on which part of Britain you live or work. There are some lovely places, some not so nice places and plenty in between.

The thing about Thailand for you is that it's a place for a holiday and you can choose where you go and for how long. In Britain, you are mostly restricted to where you work with the odd break or holiday elsewhere.

Temporary insanity coming from 3 weeks of rooting your missus and hugging your kids. I can empathise.

Nah...I'm not a Thai basher. I like it here too. But we can't ignore the downsides. Open up to them, discuss them. You'd be surprised how much constructive criticism filters back to shakers and movers, and thus slowly, step by minuscule step, changes for the good occur.

Horses for courses , Thailand no longer holds any attraction for Me, there's other destinations that need to be explored , like the U.S.A. Florida calling.

Seriously, which one is going to be more expensive to get laid ?

I'll admit Platinum Gold clubs will rock your world if you're wealthy and only enter into pre-nup contractual relationships. It simply will be a lot less expensive having a partner twenty years your junior in Thaliand if that is your game plan...and you won't require a Mercedes, Beemer or Corvette.

Most of my family is F-L-A'd...I couldn't make it work with less than $75,000 / year guaranteed...and I don't want to become the one wearing a skirt in my own home.

Everywhere's lovely when the sun is shining and you've got more coming in than going out.

It's a tough one... the UK and places like it is where all the infrastructure and the modern culture and the real world is... you know, civilisation... it's always tempting to want to flee the grind for the promise of perpetual holiday, but timing and location is everything. The relationships you have with people in your own country are a bit more like real relationships than the ones you form in places like Thailand where you can't always communicate or integrate well, and you can end up talking to people you never would normally back home. It can be a bit lonely, after all the whoring and holidaying.

I think Thailand's best days are behind it and it's neighbours are up and coming, but it does have some semblance of infrastructure and entertainment for the region with less of the stifling chinese influence and let's face it, lower prices... Japan is more exciting version of Thailand really, but the money and access can be more difficult... not so easy to set up a little biz or cope with japanese working culture for long, but the women are far better than the rest of asia. I'm interested in Burma now, and looking forward to surfing on it's growth - optimistic that it will supplant Thailand over the next 10-20 years... but I'm also optimistic about the UK's future free of the basket case EU, and there is where oppotunity lies in the UK being able to build links outside of the EU, and new oppos in Asia and other parts of the world for all of us who are bitten by wanderlust.

Thailand is a pool of sharks, don't big it up too much... there's a big old world out there.

    I agree with alot
I have spent 12 years working and traveling around Europe
Then a few years in both south and north America
Asia is the friendliest place I've been to I'm still exploring but nowhere I've previously been to can come close to Thailand
    Everyone has their own opinions

These are things I think too, but don't dare say for fear of being hanged, drawn, and quartered..

Last year, I said Thailand has lost its soul..(oh did you laugh)
that may have been a tad overly dramatic, but there was some truth to that.

Making a comparison between Thailand vs Japan, is ballsy on a Thai-centric forum.
I should tread carefully, as you know I am married to a Japanese lady and plan to move to Japan, I might as well wear a

"Hi, I'm Dick (or, a dick lol) and I'm biased towards Japan, T-shirt".

But risking that, I would say in my 20's there was no other place I'd rather be than Thailand. The clubs, the energy, the girls!!
In my 30's now, Japan is the easy winner.. I wouldn't be caught dead living in Tokyo/Osaka - but luckily enough, as fate would have it, I married a lass from

Fukujimbobs kidding! "Fukuoka" heh.... and it's the perfect place for us to live and invest our modest savings for a comfortable, happy lifestyle.
To be perfectly blunt, I would only comfortably invest my spunk in Thailand.

P.S> I'm too old for clubs now, but I bet you younger guys would love the nightlife/clubs in Japan - almost as much as in Thailand (almost...) YMCA sing it... Fuk-u-ok-a.. la la la

No need to get your knickers in a twist pal.

Pffttt... I wouldn't fly all the way to Thailand to kick your sad drunk arse, bro -
(if I weren't a married man) I'd be too busy shagging Oops! I mean visiting temples and making merit heh

Every country will attract and seduce us depending on our personality, age, wants, needs and desires. Some folk love Auckland (I myself don't) some people hate Bkk, (I dig bkk).. etc
which part of Thailand/Japan are we talking about? vast difference between Tokyo vs Yufin or Bkk vs Roi Et (LA) lol
there is no 'best place' for everyone...

Jim, you can always vent your agro and join the impending slap fest between Terry and Stroll though... sure they would love a 3some lol
I love Muay Thai sure, it's been my main sport since I was a kid - hate fighting though, especially people I thought were my friends innit.
