Cops are now saying the lady had a stroke, not an epileptic fit. If true, it could happen to anyone.

^Major difference between someone with a history of epilepsy deciding it's ok to drive and someone having a stroke. The first is reckless endangerment of others, the second makes the driver one of the victims, you dobber
I went down to have a look today,
Fok me,
Ya could ride a pushbike through the poxy barriers they have around that shrine.
Thai monkeys obviously learned nothing from the Bombing.
Oh well next, next please.
No she didn't, read the fucking article before you spout shit.
"The driver had an acute stroke while on the wheel and lost control of herself," said acting Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahataworn said on Saturday.
"Her daughter, who was with her in the car, told us her mother suddenly had a seizure and lost control of the car before it hit the shrine," he said.
"The closed-circuit camera footage showed the car was in reverse gear after the hit. But that's because the daughter was pulling the gear lever or the impact could have been much greater," the police general explained.
"This was not a terrorist or deliberate act to hurt anyone. It's an accident," he added.
The car is a Toyota Soluna automatic. Here's picture of the gear lever for reference.
I'm no car expert, but is that even possible, to change from forward to reverse "to slow the car down", and it stops, then reverses, then stops again, all by the passenger pulling on the lever while mum apparently still has her foot on the accelerator?
You know as well as I do that police generals come out with crazy excuses and should not be believed.
Not to mention that the passenger needed to depress the button on the lever. She's pretty damn good to have reacted so quickly.
^Yep, watch the video. She was definitely trying to reverse out until bystanders intervened.
how come there is no information on the driver. my guess, she's connected.
thats the only stroke being pulled here.
Nah. Fishy...
To put an auto into reverse, same as taking it out of Park the brake pedal needs to be pressed and in that vid you can clearly see the brake lights go off when the car stops, then come on again as soon as its reversed.
^
My car was a 1977 Holden V8, maybe they built them a tad different then.
Stripped the reversing gear clean off, car was still really good at going forward but reversing was bitch.
^ Are you familiar with how planetary gears work? They're a mechanical marvel.
But of course no public prosecutor will get a chance to point that out as high ranking cops have already decided that it was an unfortunate accident that the driver can't be blamed for.
OK, she made a mistake and took out 7 people. I can accept that, but nonetheless she needs to face charges under the law.
But she tried to run...she needs to be treated more sternly.
Cops immediately started making excuses. She's got privileges, and thus I want to see her treated even more sternly than that.
^ ^
Not really,
All i know about that stuff is to make sure you never ever put a car into reverse when it's going Forward.
Cost me a heap of money to get a Recon box fitted.
If she put the car into reverse, it may have been in order to reverse the car off of bodies rather than to escape.

Not the best idea more likely to cause more harm than good.
But when people panic they do stupid things.
The Shrine is in a very bad spot, any fuker can aim his car at it and barge straight it.
It's a four way intersection, from two directions its very easy to drive straight in.
It's easy to fit those Ram prove barriers that many Banks have but the retarded Thais don't find that necessary yet.
Even after the Bombing.
