Not quite an impulse buy, but mindful of my recent experience of being stung by a box jellyfish and being 'dumped' at the local government hospital where there wasn't even a doctor on duty, I decided to order a dog-tag with my vital information on it.

On one side is the usual personal information and on the other side (because I never know what country I will be in next), it says "I have hospital insurance" (which may or not be true!), in English, Thai, Lao and Burmese. However, in the case of where I'm unconscious and in a life-threatening situation (heart attack/car accident etc), hopefully this dog-tag will help me to be transported to a well-equipped private hospital where (with an awful lot of luck), they might believe the text on the tag and start treating me. I will worry about the costs if I am still alive afterwards...

This was an impulse a few weeks back and i likie, proper heat with a nice smokey backdrop - goes really well splashed on any grilled pork or chook. Was discounted to 70p presumably as it was too hot for most but i snaffled 3 bottles and glad i did.

I was in Munich yesterday looking for a Pelikan M series to add to my small but growing pen collection. Anyway, whilst browsing we saw a Diplomat Excellence in striking green that was very affordable and I was just about to buy when Mrs Troy saw a Lamy Dialog 3 on sale. I've been after one for ages but I feel they are over priced at €330+. On sale it was labelled at €250 and I bought it only to find actual sale price was €175. Now that's what I call a lucky find, and very happy...

It's a fantastic design and the first retractable nib I have in my collection.

    Good man, Troy.

    I'm surprised by two things.

    1. We have a pen collector on TD.

    2. Pen collectors actually exist.

In this day and age do you do much writing with them, or is it just a kinda look at them kinda thing? Perhaps keep them displayed on your nice office desk at work, if that's your work setting?

Given the long, thin, smooth shape, do you also use them for insertin... it's just a kinda look at them thing, right?

    Which I get.

I collect miniature 1:24 scale Ferrari models, which despite rumours started by Dill, I'm not actually able to fit into.

I am an old fashioned note taker. I am known for logging all my work as and when I carry it out and then typing it into the various on-line tools I'm told to use. There are actually two of us that do this in our department and, funnily enough, we are the two the rest go to in order to find out information because nobody can find it in the on-line tools. I use fountain pens because I find them less tiring to write with and, more importantly, they force me to write legibly enough to read at a later date. I have log books still used for reference that I wrote back in 2007, so they're not wasted.

I think I'm the only one using a fountain pen at work, a few have joked about it but they rarely take notes and end up having to ask how things work...

^ I'm a hand jobber too. I honestly enjoy writing and having a nice tool to do it is nice, however my tool of choice is my 40 year old Pentel 0.7mm pencil.

I bought a Logitech C922 webcam for work yesterday. Now the ladies can see my junk extra clear and I don't have to use a ring light anymore. Very nice low light capabilities, I'm very well pleased.

    Sure. My pleasure to.

They're in our main house in another city, that we were supposed to move back to.

I should have them parked here on floating shelves in 6-8 weeks.

If I can still fit inside and drive them down.

    Old photo.

Will have them on 10 floating shelves in the villa living room.

Up around where the hanging fairy lights are.

Will have to check if there are floating shelves with lighting. Having them lit up individually would be, to go all teenagey, totally sick dooood.

^ Totally unrelated, but what is that switch above the TV, and with the rumours of you being short, do you use a broom handle to turn it on/off?

... Actually, thinking about it, everything might just be really low (like Warick Davies low) and the switch is at normal height?

    --EDIT--

Warick Davis and his lovley wife for those who do not know him...

That's not a TV... that's a 14in tablet mounted on the wall next to the bonsai trees.

    Yeah, bit odd.

    Though it's actually a socket.

There's one at a similar height on the other side of the living room, in Edweena's bedroom, in the spare room, and one in the master bedroom, but none in the kitchen, bathrooms or laundry room.

My best guess is someone either had pets that liked gnawing on electrical appliance cables, or kids that liked chitty'ing forks into them.

That one's quite well placed for the fairy lights, believe it or not I'm 5 foot 10, and neither 3 foot 4, nor a convicted child-rapist, despite what Dill will tell you, and plug them in by standing up, as the main sockets are down at the bottom right of the wall mounted 14 inch tablet, it saves on them needing an extension lead or from running behind the TV.

I reckon seeking sausages has probably got a stash of these fine pens so that he can also write his flowery wordsalad in despatches to the motherland .
