Hell of a thing to awake to on a Sunday morning:
Online auctions are dangerous.

Nope, that's a 'It's Better To Ask Forgiveness Than Permission' and 'Oops How I'm Gonna Tell The Wife' model R/T Charger.
Braaaat, braaaaat.
Your neighbours are gonna love you.
Pffft nothing so agricultural, springs and torsion bar up front…
…leafs rear.
FFS Ant, I could wake up to that any day.
I’ve got my eyes on a Mustang in Japan, the numbers are good, including shipping. I’ve doubled the price to allow for import duty. Still seems cheap. In fact it’s so cheap I can’t believe it. What am I missing here?
Lang may yer lum reek...
Am I blind? Dont see the cheap price at all.
^^A shed load of rust, probably
Hard to say auctions are a gamble at the best of times. I only bud on mine because I know the owner and car.
The price is 620k delivered. But then there’s the costs for tax and registration to factor in after that.
If it’s a go, I’m willing to fly to Japan to check it out.
from what I’ve heard, emissions laws have become extremely stringent in Japan and these performance cars are up for grabs at very attractive prices.
I’ve heard a few horror stories of Japan auctions and imports but those have mostly been around JDM things like GTRs and the like to be fair
What are the horror stories? Fkd up motors or escalating costs for import?
Little from column A and some from columns B, C and D.
Cars not as advertised, riddled with rust, flood/storm damaged… list goes on.
There are whole YouTube channels dedicated to documenting the fallout.
Buyer beware and those are the exceptions not the rule but still pays to be aware.
They are for sale, not auction. But I wouldn’t buy a car without inspecting it first.
And I’ve always fancied a trip to Japan.
I might buy a cheap car at around 100k first and test the water. I’m considering making a business from this depending on the outcome.
Im looking, but not really finding much else than obvious info that is lacking actual instructions.
I’m trying to find an agent with an import license so I can get a real quote.
I will get a new work permit on Thursday, does that mean I can get 1 tax free container? If so I don’t want to waste that on a cheap ‘practice run’ import.
Wait, are you talking about importing into Thailand?
If so then you might as well forget it. Basically impossible now since the law changed.
What law changed?
Ban on import of 2nd hand cars.
It's why prices here of GTR's and all that have gone through the roof--whatever was here at the time is literally all there can ever be.
yup , you aint importing any cars (or bikes), been that way for a few years now.
