Why on earth would it be necessary to know you to know that you've made a colossally dumb purchase?

A Call to Stop Use of Coffee Pods in Bali
    BY :JG

    SEPTEMBER 04, 2018

Jakarta. Java Mountain Coffee, a Jakarta-based social enterprise advocating for sustainable coffee farming, has called on the hospitality industry in Bali to avoid using plastic and aluminum coffee capsules in a bid to reduce pollution.

Coffee capsule usage has grown five times faster than growth in coffee consumption globally between 2011 and 2016, Java Mountain Coffee said, citing a 2017 study by Euromonitor International.

The firm said this is not sustainable, because used capsules usually end up in landfills, rivers and the ocean. Java Mountain Coffee said the used coffee pods also contribute to climate change, especially the plastic ones, which release harmful substances into the environment when exposed to sunlight.

"Java Mountain Coffee's response to the recent commitment by the global travel industry to reduce its reliance on plastics and other harmful environmental products, is to stop the use of plastic and aluminum coffee capsules," the firm's spokeswoman, Nadine Alexandra, said in a statement.

"We believe the Bali travel industry collectively can lead the world in environmental responsibility, reversing old uninformed historical human behavior, which has caused irreversible damage to our planet," she said.

Java Mountain Coffee participated in an environmental event titled "Act Local, Impact Global," hosted by Alila Resorts Bali last week. The island hotel industry organized the event in response to a commitment by the global travel industry in June to reduce the use of plastic and other harmful waste products.

At least 50 hotels, members of the Bali Hotel Association and other travel industry stakeholders attended the event to share their environmental initiatives.

Among these initiatives is "Komitmen" by One Island One Voice, a Bali-based network of organizations active in the field of waste prevention and management. The initiative calls on individuals, organizations, companies and government offices on the island to separate organic and inorganic waste at the source and to stop using single-use plastic straws, plastic water bottles, plastic retail bags, plastic cups and plastic cup lids.

"Java Mountain Coffee urges all stakeholders to join us and make a commitment to One Island One Voice's 'Komitmen' initiative," the firm said.

Your information is at least 3 years out of date. Historically that’s very similar to most of your opinions.

I recycled the previous machine, and I also recycle glass, plastic, paper and card. The only thing that goes in general waste is organic materials. It costs a little extra to do this through payments made to the local Banjar, but hey, you still don’t know me, or have the slightest inkling about my lifestyle and choices.

The forum thanks you for the waste of bandwidth, and yet another pointless and uninformed post. Please carry on.

Well at least what you're full of is bio-degradable.

And of course the story isn't out of date.

Your posts on the topic just don't make sense.

I cannot explain your lack of understanding, so that is your problem not mine.

The story is from 2018. Pre Covid, pre Bali changes in plastic curbs, so yes, it is out of date.

Try a topic where your intellect exceeds that of others. This most certainly isn’t it.

There's a recurring joke around the oil guys down here in Songkhla at the moment, due to the lack of international travel and Duty Free.

"You smell nice, I bet you've even got a single malt that you're not telling us about".

Fortunately, Mendip documented (My post-lockdown commute back to work) his efforts. You can follow his advice.

Yeah I saw that thread. I am traveling with wife so it will absolutely be a different process. She appears to have it all figured out. I am just staying out of it.

Of course as we all know, what happens today will not be the same tomorrow.

Still a month and a half away. I do not even look at the rules and regs.

On a side note. I will not be feeding pigeons and talking to them and will not buy a pair of Jesus slippers and wear the same clothes. .

I popped in to Tesco today, or Lotus's as they seem to call themselves now.

The old carb intake has been a bit low lately since I switched from Leo to Hong Thong... and the daughter persuaded me to pick up some donuts.

I only wanted four, but was of course conned into getting six... for 159 Baht.

The ladyboy donut cashier told me that you can get ten pieces for 100 Baht.. special offer! The cute female cashier seems to have disappeared.

I said I don't want ten... six is more than enough. Can I pay 100 Baht for six?

Not possible, have to have ten for the 100 Baht offer.

    FFS...

Incidentally... the 'love-heart' donut was my choice to see if I could spark up some action before going back to work.

The ploy failed... so I'll be dining alone tonight... if you know what I mean.

    annoying when they do that.

occasionally I will stop at macca's on the way to work to buy a sausage and egg muffin and two hash browns, cost Bt.199

Last few times ive been conned into a meal deal Sausage muffin deal for Bt.90.. add in the second hash brown and we are at Bt.135.

Tell em i dont want the coffee... price is back up to 199.

wised up to that real quick so order the deal....at the drive thru window I refuse to take the coffee !!

    You actually drink that stuff?

I thought it was only used in cock fighting.

Try a mango Monster or an orange carabao that's a tasty energy drink.

Just thought I'd give it a try. Too pricey tho. The verdict. It didn't make me feel worse which is good

Picked me up a BT JBL Charge 5 for my pool bar. Can listen to the MLB/NFL/NBA games and music while kicking back.
