I normally wear head protection when working with trees as they have unpredictable habits and can be lethally heavy.

Normally I wear a cycle helmet but then I thought:- since its a jungle out there, why not rock a Guadalcanal/Battle of the Coral Sea - US Army WWII M1 steel helmet instead....

    Hooyah!

Webbing is very comfy. I like the way your voice echoes with a metallic ring inside your skull when you are wearing it.

Since it is a new toy I am also wearing it in the lounge this week while having my dinner and re-watching WWII in HD Colour

Epic 13 part doco. Now up to Ep7 and the tide has well and truly turned against the Fuhrer and the Duce. Some new footage and all colour, compared with the 26 part The World at War from 1973, but missing the interviews with the veterans.

Keep your weapon clean and sparsely oiled.

Don’t skimp on cleaning your gun

    Shooting Times February 19, 2020

"The simple truth is that your shotgun is essentially a pair of metal pipes. Of course, there are the ejectors and cocking springs and a trigger that moves a few millimetres, but that’s basically it.

Because of this, there is a very limited amount of metal-on-metal friction, and none of it at particularly high temperatures.

On the other hand, your gun has a large surface area and is regularly exposed to wind, rain, blood, sweat and, occasionally, tears.

All this conspires to produce the greatest single danger to your gun — rust.

Most gunsmiths will tell you that overenthusiastic application of cleaning products, even ‘proper’ ones, causes almost as many problems as neglect does. Among them are surplus oil soaking into the wood at the head of the stock, excess grease on the hinge-pin or ejectors attracting gunk and burned powder and forming a rubbing paste that slowly erodes the metalwork."

Which gun oil should you use? And which do experts avoid?

About a week ago, the main TV in the lounge developed a small white spot, almost as if a torch was being shone on the screen. A quick Google revealed it was caused by dead pixels, for which there is no cure. It really wasn't that big, but of course I started to spend more time staring at the spot than the screen as a whole. Spent a few days evaluating the merits and prices of a potential replacement (I was going to stick with Samsung), and opted for a 65" QLED model (the duff one is 55" and going to be the bedroom/spare TV). In spite of my crap hearing, also opted for a Samsung Soundbar with Subwoofer. Anyway, all was delivered and installed this morning, and am thus far really pleased with the upgrade.

The TV furniture unit is 2.2m long to give size perspective, and I'm watching the Olympics live.

32,000 from Powerbuy, and 11,000 for the soundbar.

Im guessing you went to the one in Central, which is funny as I was JUST there 2 weeks or so ago buying a new TV and got Samsung like usual. Only thing you should have gotten the next one up the series, the 70 series, as thats a 120hz TV and pretty well future proof for a long while. Still a damn fine TV tho, and the soundbar makes it even better. Ive got a kipslich one that runs through HDMI Arc and the samsung Smart Remote controls the Tv, Soundbar, Android Boxes, and the 3BB Box, so no need for 10,000 remotes laying around.

Went to the mall in Dubai to get a G-Shock watch repaired, its my work watch and im attached to it, only to find out it needs a new case and the case costs just as much as a new one... So I walked out with four new G-shocks including a replacement rangeman because mega sale and you can never have too many watches to add to the collection.

Actually the Powerbuy in HomePro, Chalong. Re the 120hz, I guess that's great for gaming, which I'm not into anyway, so of no consequence. A bit like the next level up, the Neo QLED with 8K capability at mega prices, and the irony being there's little to no 8K source material to be had. A little like some years ago with the blu ray DVD players. Worked great, but couldn't get blu ray discs anywhere, and of course streaming has since superceded DVD's anyway. Given my experience with the 55", I'm expecting 5 years or so use out of this latest one, and will see how things have moved on then.

You can't possibly understand what that means, you befuddled duffer.

There is absolutely no 'whataboutism' in my post.

It's about idiotic consumerism that pays no heed to local conditions or the long term.

You should have stuck to your usual breakfast drink, though swapping body fluids in such a way is probably especially unwise these days.

Thank you so much for the critique and the pointless advice on consumerism, which obviously doesn’t apply to any other poster on this thread.

You really have no idea about me, yet insist on pointing out my perceived flaws. Do you do the same to everyone else you don’t know?
That makes you a spineless hypocrite in my view. Thanks for the feeble red mate.
