    Exactly.

Hooking is just a job that feeds the family in most cases.
True. Rather than hooker, I prefer 'economically challenged young ladies with initiative'.

I know one quite well - a major stunner in her day. Now with a quite successful restaurant and small business. She told me years ago, "It was sit on the porch and watch dead fish wash up on the beach, or get out and do something/anything". "I was going to be fucking somebody, might as well be somebody who gave me money rather than somebody who took mine."

But not much good if you end up with mongrel kids that nobody wants.

Mind you, also much like Thailand, most of the girls I met in Angeles and Subic were single mothers with runaway deadbeat dads.

It does bring to mind a night out I had in HK once - a Philippine bloke who worked for us, it was his birthday, so we took him out to the gogobars on Lochart rd. the longer we stayed there the more quiet he got until eventually we asked him what the problem was. He went into a monologue about why these girls from his country had to do this, and how it was a shame, and the government let them down etc. I pointed out to him that most of the ladies had kids they were trying to support because their deadbeat dad abandoned them. Then I asked him "how many kids do you have Gerald?" "Four" he replied. "Same mother?" ... "no, three different mothers". ... "So when was the last time you saw them, or sent them money to support your kids?"......... hang his head in shame time with no answer as it dawned on him he was the problem, and not the government.

Luke Mijares (sp?), the half black singer that I've mentioned, his life story was shown on TV. I didn't watch it but heard abt it at that time. He grew up poor, but he had a good voice, and eventually became famous as a singer. The story was, when he saved up enough $$ he went to the US to search for his dad. He found the dad, but dad was indifferent. So he went back home disappointed, and went on with life. Life goes on.

Dennis Rodman's father lived in Angeles for many years. Had something like 14 kids from a dozen different mothers running around town, none of whom he took any responsibility for.

He tried to reconnect with Dennis when he made it big, it's no surprise he wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. Nor did the other tribe of kids he had in the States. A real piece of work he was

    Fair point.

What's the govt supposed to do?

Close down all the go-gos, and push those hooking underground.

That guy you quoted is an idiot.

You have no idea of the power of the Catholic church until you fly over Angeles and see the gleaming fucking cathedral sticking up out of a massive slum.

They are singularly responsible for the descent of the Phils into a poverty-stricken shithole.

Particularly within developing countries, the RCC has been cited as ignoring the struggles of the impoverished and lower class. Like many other Catholic countries, in the Philippines, the RCC is very active in the population policy debate. Admist the 7,100 plus islands compromising the archipelago, a sizable majority, 84%, of all Filipinos are Roman Catholic. As the only Christian Southeast Asian country, the Philippines has one of the regions highest rates of population growth. In 1992, the population in the Philippines stood at 66 million and is expected to reach 75 million by 2000, a tenfold growth from the beginning of the century. If this rate continues, by the year 2100, there will be three quarters of a billion Filipinos, a rate expected to exceed the population destinies of India, Sri Lanka and West Germany. In response, the RCC in the Philippines has taken a range of responses to population issues, from active involvement to overt aggression against the nation's population board.
As you can see from below, it was even worse than predicted.

What angers me about this is that there are immigrants from everywhere with no ethnic connection to European countries being allowed in and given citizenship building ethnic ghettos in Europe, when they have no right to be there. Yet here you have mixed-race kids like yours or mine with an ethnic connection to Europe, and are denied their right to be there.
It's the full ethnic aliens that should be being deported and kept out, and those with European blood given their places.

I have a trip to PI planned. I have not been there.

However, I have been to Mexico, Central and South America.

Very Catholic (at least they claim to be). Catholism is definitely in many people's psyche, and I have thought about the so many impoverished countries being Catholic.

Many seks pats come and go, and a good portion of long-term expats will leave.

I don't see a way of making them pay child support.

Alimony, sure, while they are together. But when he leaves....

Great news! When you get it sorted, just send me your name and flight information. I have friends in Customs and Immigration who can assist at the airport, and more friends who can make sure you have an unforgettable holiday! Exciting news!
