When I was in Saigon in 2012 I used to walk past this dealer of luxury cars. They had the only one of these vehicles available in Vietnam. The car enthusiasts on here may know this car. Only a few ever made. Not the best picture.

Not the best looking rig I recon but the price is world class.
Here is the Money shot . Work that out in US dollars. Tax on luxury imports is similar to Thailand.
ask them what they'll offer me for my Ford Ranger as a trade in please?
If that is a million bucks then it should have been a bargain for an asian import with the tax. I think the Maybach was close to a million in the west.Originally Posted by harrybarracuda
Simply insane. I had a '55 Chevy Nomad and later a '66 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Super Sport - both much cooler looking than that quite ordinary looking sedan.
Maybach also specialize in armoring the vehicles, with 35mm thick windows and bullet proof all over, probably the case for this vehicle at 1 million bucks...
2 of my neighbors have Bentleys. Pics in Panama Hat's thread somewhere. Cost 50-55m baht.
A million quid sterling.
I've seen one of them out of the driveway twice in about 3 years.
Big ugly fokers if you ask me, look like a Korean Hyundai with down-syndrome and elephantitis.
Maybach went out of business in 2013 so what they have in Vietnam is likely a Chinese copy.
Maybach was Mercedes.attempt.to get into the uber luxury car market, as did BMW when they bought Rolls Royce, and Volkswagen when they bought Bentley. Problem was the Maybach, fine car that it was, essentially was an ultra specced S Class, and without the prestige of the leaders in this sector.
The GFC didn't help either, which hastened the Maybach's demise.
Sorry I was wrong Maybach is back in business. made in India!
Now as always a fancy S-class.
Mercedes is still using the name on its new 2016 Maybach S600
Car and Driver
Back seats look comfy and the new one is only $200,000 !
Oh Fuk no,
That photo was taken Xmas time 2011, it was the real deal, only one in Vietnam and not a blinged up armored carrier.
I had never heard of a Maybach, the Handbag I was with had and filled me in.
I recon it may still be sitting there, at that mad price even the most fool hardy super rich fuker would not buy it.
Go the Rolls Royce Phantom.
Anyway, try driving that around Saigon.

Hitler produced the VW for it's peoples car and the Indians produced this little gem courtesy of TATA.
Net cost was 35 Baht including Tax.
As my old Nigerian mate Chooks used to say, while flogging shit in Camden back in the days of Soul II Soul,
"Different styles for different people,
different prices for different pockets"

It may be cheap but I reckon the constant brake downs may add up.
tbh it's a shit copy of rollers and bentleys, they all look the fucking same now.
Built for low class new money chavs like Asians, Russians and Premier league footballer players.
I wouldn't buy the rubbish if I could afford 100 of them.
a chauffer and a van fitted out to cater to my expected style would be a much better way to travel
^
That is certainly brilliant innit.
Back to the shitty MayBaybach.
Who the fuk in Vietnam would actually shell out 1 million dollars for that car.
It boggles the brain box that they would even consider importing the fooking thing.
It was already a year old when I spotted it.
