Anyone have experience with living in Tanzania?

Just wondering, a 'friend' may have an opportunity to go there.

Met a very pleasant, horny woman from Tasmania years ago... she was glad she got away from boredom, but praised the natural beauty of the place.

I have watched a few Youtube clips on Tanzania, the Tanzanian to Zambia railway that was built by the Chinese and maintained by the locals is a memorable one. What is it like to work there, I don't know but there are a lot of Chinese who manage it.

I worked there for a year in the 70s. Julius Nyere was "President for Life" and they were conducting an experiment to find out how badly socialism could fail. A beautiful country but I always thought it would have been much better if they had strictly enforced their White Australia Policy. Recent visitors tell me law and order has broken down in many places and it can be quite dangerous. Oil and mineral exploration companies employ expat security services.

Never been there, but it is one of few places left in the world that makes my bucket list. Ngorongoro crater, Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Zanzibar & other islands- I would say go for it!

Wow. Sherlock Holmes. How did you ever figure that out? You appear to have the intellectual capacity and characteristics of an 11 year old.

    If in doubt, ask Bourdain.

    Bourdain knows fucking everything.

I like bourdain, he's sexy. Sexier than me.

When i went to Zanzibar, i had to get a Tanzanian visa. When i went to Mombassa i had to get a Kenyan visa.

On a clear day you can see Dar Es Salaam from Zanzibar. And vice versa. It is an island in the Indian Ocean. And mostly Muslum, no booze. Beautiful sunsets. And a wonderful history.

The slave caves visit.... will change your thinking for a long time.

Lots of lions. Not on Zanzibar but on the coast. may nip yer ankles.

I love East Africa. My parents lived there for 20 odd years, the last colonials to leave Uganda. We still speak a bit of Swahili in our everyday words.

If you have the chance to go, do it. Such a different life than the one you live now.

And you know, i just love telling people i have been to Zanzibar!! It was just phenonomall

    Bourdain?
Never heard of him, might be worth a watch though
    .
knows everything does he ? but more to the point does he get to know the local girls ..
The world needs a proper travel correspondent who samples the natives, and local intoxicants not just the poncy food .
Maybe king willy, I mean his friend, is the man for the job !

i read Celine - journey to the end of the night - years ago
that was enough to put me off Africa for live .

I think the pith hat went out in the fifties. And so did that silly tv show.

Some of us live in the now.

Are you going to start calling him Bwana?

Have you been to Zanzibar? Can you show me on a map where it is? Google not allowed.

Stone Town - the House of Lights - the first place in East Africa that had lights. Dr Livingstons medical bag is there. I saw it. And the tree, have you seen the tree? Do you even know about the tree? Do you care.
