Jeez, just stumbled into this thread for the first time.
All I can say now is I wish you all the best JJ.
At least the first battle to get Joy to Oz is completed. Now just concentrate on getting well.
Now we just need to keep Topper out of jail.
Good luck with your bone-marrow treatments. Wishing you all the best. Stay strong and keep your life priorities in order. L'chaim !
Thank you Tizme.
Much appreciated
Well, as you know it was all about the visa for Joy, and we got one.
Hurrah !
This was great though we had no idea what type of visa she'd been issued.
The immigration blokes couldn't tell us when we landed so we had to wait and get into the immigration office in Cavanagh Street, Darwin as soon as possible.
Finally the Docs said I could go out for a few hours and off we went.
We was tense.
A taxi into town and we joined the queue of 1 at the immigration office and, sweating nervously, we awaited our turn.
I gave the bloke an abridged version of our story and explained the situation.
He asked for Joys passport which I dutifully handed over.
Her grip on my arm was intense.
Tubby, hairy bloke ( him, not me ) flipped through the passport, held it up to the light, bent it, twisted, scanned it then put it down in front of him on his bare brown desk.
By this time my arm was gangrenous and I was dripping with paranoid perspiration.
He smiled, disarmingly, and said "What do you want me to with this, mate?"
I gulped.
"Not a bloody thing I can here, mate".
" A 12 month multiple entry visa is about as good as it gets, mate. Congratulations"
YOU FUCIN BEAUTY
THANKS EVERYONE.
Outstanding! Now, on to treatment!
Great news, now get on with your treatment.
Thanks.
Treatment already started.
The first of 3 cycles started last Friday, the day I was admitted
I'll post up the details when I understand them, though it's basically massive doses (20 mg) of a steroid combined with a couple of other things to fight the Myeloma.
Under normal circumstances I would be a day patient but I have had a psychotic reaction to the steroids so I have to monitored to see if they can juggle the other drugs around so as to allow me to take what I need with climbing the nearest high building and flying home to LOS
Plus another 50 tablets a day covering everything from vitamin deficiency to constipation to gout.
All good.
The pain killers are first and foremost slow release morphine tablets, 20mg morning and night. Plus 10cc liquid morphine when ever I feel like it. For example during the flights to Aus or after a particularly arduous walk. I also have Tramadol whenever it's required.
Tamezepam for sleeping but I rarely use it.
Living the high life, JJ...Fookin' junkie!...
Seriously, best of luck...Try posting when yer ripped...In memory of our main dog, DD...
Keep your damn spirits up mate- that's half the battle. Joy is there, to provide tremendous help and comfort.
Congratulations.
Good luck mate.
Thanks for the updates mate. Sounds like you got a whole pharmaceutical shop to costume each day. Some pretty strong stuff there. Get well now.
Terrific news mate and our best wishes are with you.
I will let KK know the good news.
I'm obliged to you LT. Email and internet isn't too reliable here though I think Joy might have got a message through to KK.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
