I have spoken to my lawyer and he advised the fastest way to get a visa for Joy is to get married which could be done within a day.

If you are already legally married he has asked that you come to Bangkok and he could get a visa for her within a day or two.

He will handle the preparation of documents and the application with you and Joy.

Please let me know your marriage status.

Just realized mate and you now have the contact details and my lawyer wants you to call him now.

He will ask you to send scanned copies of all documents so he can start the application before you and Joy arrive in Bangkok.

Anyone who has LT as a friend is fortunate indeed. Not for the first time either. Remember the floods?

    Showing your truer colours, LT.

    Social/humanity extensions never get old.

You remain a scholar and gentlemen.

    Well done and thanks.

I have done absolutely nothing apart from make a few calls and ask for help for someone in need. But thanks for the kind words but all the support needs to go to the guy in need.

My guy is going to start the process tomorrow and he advised me he is going to make the formal application to the right embassy people along with all the necessary paperwork.

They cannot deny the visa according to law and if everything is done correctly.

Once again I wish Jandajoy and his wife all the very best and wish him a speedy full recovery.

I have to quite strenuously disagree with you, LT. It's all about knowing who to call. I worked for the USG for 28 years. If you're on the outside, you can dial until your digits fall off one by one and get nowhere; being able to hook JJ up to the right person was not 'nothing'; it was 'everything'.

Best of luck with the process JJ; my kid brother just went through throat cancer, and popped out at the other side in good shape. Hope it all works out.

    An update:

Thanks to LT, his mate seems confident we can get a visa this week. Given that, we'll fly down to BKK on Wednesday and check into the Citrus Hotel, Sukhumvit 13 Nana Bangkok for 3 nights. It's near the Visa office and will do.
In a spirit of optimism I've booked flights for us to Darwin for the Saturday which should have us in Darwin by 05.20 Sunday morning and me in hospital on Monday morning.

What more can I say other than heartfelt thanks to you all and if you're in the area let me know and we can knock the top of a few cold ones.

    LT - PM sent.
