Buttcorn took a dump and spooked the market. Not unheard of, it's only the 589th time it's happened.

Swirling rumours about what caused the flash crash...

    1. A rouge Twatter account posting FUD.
    2. A power outage in China that reduced BTC hash by 40%

    I'm really hoping it's #2.
But BTC is decentralised, cry the Carbon Coin maxis. LOL.

^ Made me check me Exodus wallet as that's where I keep me decred and found 5k baht of ETH sitting in it as previous Exodus transfers required payment by ETH.

Hardly a lot but have had worse surprises at 9:30 in the morning.

Might as well add it to the eventual losses playing Bernie Maddoff on Bitkub.

You're welcome but I think there's a slight misunderstanding on your side.
I'm mining them for me and for the reason that they get a feeling of being more valuable when I have produced them myself, wouldn't be the same just buying them from an exchange.

A local friend wants to play, they registered and the process will be finished in around 7 days. They understand, or at least pretended to listen, and then nodded, when I said it needs to be throw away money that they're prepared to lose.

They're looking to put in 300k baht and leave it for 1, 2, 3, 5 years, which was my (perhaps foolish) recommendation.

I recommended she chooses 3 @ 100k each, or 5 @ 50k and 50k on 5 wildcards, then sit back, leave it alone and consider it lost.

Was thinking BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH, XRP for 1-3-5 years growth. With ADA, XLM, BNB, OMG DOGE as the tagalongs.

Any recs for ones to include/omit or change?

    I don't recommend any coins.

What I do recommend is that whatever your friend puts in, she should hold back about 20% on the investment to average down if needs be.

Example: Choose 3 coins and put 80k into each and have 60k available to jump in if and when needed.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Good thinking there. Right now there is a sentiment that BTC has hit its peak in both price and transaction cost. From here if it plummets the whole market goes back to crypto winter, or like in the 2017 bullrun, the fall of BTC from its high kicks off the Alt bullrun. There could be a hard & fast move up or down very soon. I'm thinking of putting in some cash on the sidelines for the first time in years in case the move is exponentially down.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

in 5 years the come to jesus concerning block size , privacy and blockstream should occur and wild wailing about governance - what can be the upshot with price is hard to determine

ETH is still a very centralized project and their current efforts with PoS have yet to show promise - though lots of promises for the last 4 years about moving to PoS - again , still bike shed governance

in 5 years we will see a few central bank digital currencies floating around and I think the real crypto chain to be at the fore for store of value will probably have the ability to exchange with them via a real decentralised exchange

blockchains to be a big step change to the current centralised databases need to be a real decentralized chain - look closely at most of the top shills and you will find the power is in the hands of a few
