I bought 25 baht of gold bars, @ 18,300 thb/baht, 4 months ago. Up 6% now! Easy transactions, paper notes for gold at buy, gold for paper notes at sell.

As of a few days ago they were 19,750/baht, worth 494,000 thb.

    Not so much today

In principle the spread is around 100 bt for bars, but I've never managed to buy at the 'official' prices.

Most shops have the "official"prices displayed, bar buy/sell and jewellery and are members of the TGTA, they will have a wall plaque in their shop, ask to see the manager.

If no joy, go to another shop, there are plenty around.

They are used to dealing with Thais, many of whom don't dare to argue. When the shop assistants buy and sell jewellery they always try and skim more than the official selling price or less when they buy, as that's their own %. Some Thais don't argue.

One of the shops I use will check the US$ live spot price, convert to THB and g. and take a cut. Of course they are more eager to buy, if the price is rising and they believe it will continue. When it is falling, in theory they have to offer the official price, if they agree to buy.

I've been picking up jewellery and bars from 4-5k, don't recall ever paying the 'official' price for bars, and once got 965 instead of 999 but noticed too late; only once sold and that was at a trusted Chinatown shop.

Anyone know if they still have those places where you can trade after depositing gold, and settle at end of day plus or minus in gold or cash?

Majority of bitcoin trading is a hoax, new study finds

Ninety five percent of spot bitcoin trading volume is faked by unregulated exchanges, according to a study from Bitwise this week.

The firm analyzed the top 81 crypto exchanges by volume on industry site CoinMarketCap.com. They report an aggregated $6 billion in average daily bitcoin volume. The study finds that only $273 million of that is legitimate.

“People looked at cryptocurrency and said this market is a mess, that’s because they were looking at data that was manipulated,” says Matthew Hougan, global head of research at Bitwise.

the only explanation proffered so far is a 100 million USD buy across 3 exchanges - coinbase , kraken and bitstamp

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-c...-idUSKCN1RE0JY

Today’s gain was probably triggered by an order worth about $100 million spread across U.S.-based exchanges Coinbase and Kraken and Luxembourg’s Bitstamp, said Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie, chief executive of cryptocurrency firm BCB Group.

“There has been a single order that has been algorithmically-managed across these three venues, of around 20,000 BTC,” he said.

“If you look at the volumes on each of those three exchanges – there were in-concert, synchronized, units of volume of around 7,000 BTC in an hour”.

Log into yer Exodus wallet and download the latest version if you want free BSV.

    whatever the fok they are.

    Whoo-hooo.

Was actually a surprisingly nice bit of money. I thought it would be like some sort of useless dividend that's worth about 20b.

And I've never kept any amount of BTC on Exodus.

Seems to be a BCH fork.

I was given the same amount of BCH in BSV.

So for every 1 BCH you have in yer Exodus Wallet (8,160thb) you get 1 BSV for free (2,700thb).

    That was pretty sweet.
