    Hello John

    got a new motor...

Having passed the grand old age of 55 I now qualify for entry into an over 55s retirement home

Which means I also qualify to join the Swedish car owners club

    Hello John-20240223_184239-jpg

Not as handsome as teh old Jaag but the first car I have ever bought that already had tints and so did not require me to do it

    Hello John-20240223_184255-jpg

Only the 6th car I have ever owned.

It is like being catapulted into the technological age with Bluetooth phone connection for calls and media. My dinosaur jaag was devoid of any wizardry

It does not have Android Auto so I will squeeze a few more dollars value out of my old phone cradle for navigation.

    Congrats on the new passion-wagon.

Volvos appear to have started breeding over here the last few years. Never hear a bad word about them.

I had read about black cars being a handful to keep clean but I have never owned one until now.

They do show up the dirt and dust quickly so I am going full Stumpy on this bad boy with my turtle wax.

its a volvo, your decline has begun. the only cool volvo was a V40 T4 estate, anything else and you are going to start looking at smoking weed and living in Don Muang - you'll reek of decline

^ Agreed, it's a car for the 'has been'. Should have stuck to the Jags looper. An F-type for the pick-ups and an XJ for the stayers...

...No one cares about Mr safe in a Volvo.

^I am feeling you Troy. It is hard to spin a geriatric Volvo as a knicker-elastic twanging car. At least I avoided the ubiquitous temptation of the SUV, which seems to be the default car that people go for now, especially women.

A familiar old SUV rocked up today that I have not seen in a month of Sundays. Senorita Surabaya rolled into the forest after an absence of 3 months, since way before crimbo.

She kicked the wheels on the Swedish chariot and declared it to be 'very nice' before conducting a detailed inspection of the all-new kitchen island arsenal.

But I think she might have been being polite, I could not tell

How do you avoid double booking? Do you have an appointments calendar they can check and book slots on

^Maybe installing CCTV cameras and a remote control electric gate at the entrance might be an idea Mike...

I was scratching my noggin to come up with a way of pimpin the geriatric jalopy when I cracked onto a brain-bomb... chrome exhaust tips!

Good that it actually has two real exhaust pipes. The trend nowadays seems to be to put four fake exhausts on a bit of body kit, or one is real and 3 are fake. The kid watches out for it, to see which one is black and vibrating while 3 others are clean and still. I think there's even been a few Netas (fully electric) that have it done. It's good to see a car with one on each side that are actual exhaust pipes.

Watch out for those automatic car washes. Some black finishes really show up microscratches. Hand washing is the way to go.

It's a decent machine the Volvo. Not too charismatic though!
