CBDC of course will be very traceable , which is the main selling point that bureaucracies will eagerly await - but very likely you will be able to swap them on a DEX

so many of the " crypto projects " that have popped up in the last 5 years promising all sorts of returns via some web3 and decentralized finance buzz words had their working capital parked in FTX as it was considered to be the darling of the centralized exchanges - but now they are unable to access their funds which means unfortunately that many of their payrolls will not be paid

FTX unraveling is just the next step in the chain of events started with luna , and it still has a long way to run

as far as centralised exchanges go , Binance does not seem to use its users parked funds to gamble with , though there are some dodgy shenanigans going on using it to trade with - if this is with CZs permission or not is not known

as always - not your keys , not your coins

So you'll get a wrappedCBDC or a similar token to represent it? Then you hope the issuer doesn't use any of the tokens to trade on leverage like FTX/Alameda did.

I suspect many of them will be ERC20 tokens or similar on PoS chains - some will be on current chains , though some will be on their own launched and validated by their own nodes

I expect all of these types can be integrated into DEX's , though I do not think this is what the CBDC people envisage - but cross trading with other CBDCs will have to be possible , which would enable DEXs to add pairs

A nice writeup on the FTX scam.

You have to wonder why a company with that much of other peoples money had what seems to be absolutely no oversight:

Binance said it would consider acquiring FTX - but one executive said it took just two hours of due diligence to conclude that the company was beyond saving.

news for people who would like to know

Today I am releasing a new Decred-based communications tool, Bison Relay, that enables free speech, free association, and can act as a fully independent alternative stack to the web, whose substantial problems were outlined in my prior article. Bison Relay is an asynchronous client-server protocol that makes heavy use of the Decred Lightning Network (“LN”), where every message sent is encrypted, metadata-minimized, and paid for via LN micropayment. The Bison Relay server is accountless and every message is handled individually, where it is both paid for prior to being sent and then received. Bison Relay tightly integrates payments, messaging, and social media, and this initial release implements a peer-to-peer Twitter/Facebook-like functionality of making posts to subscribers, subscribing to users’ posts, relaying posts, and replying to posts and comments on posts.

Whole coins were only around $7 for most of that year. How many did you buy?

He wasn’t sure they would increase so he only bought 500. He just keeps them, never cashing in as he prefers to live off his weekly stipend that he gets from stacking shelves at Walmart.

He’ll be splashing out next month and painting the basement, the stench of stale piss is becoming too much even for him.

Last purchase of whole coins. Cleverly/luckily didn't sell short term. Will keep 'em for a while yet.

Bankman-Fried found guilty of fraud. A lot of people should be found guilty of gross stupidity.
