Not too much if you're only investing but if you want to actually use it as it's presumably intended and spend it on something plenty.

Binance under attack all over the world.

Thailand SEC Files Criminal Complaint Against Binance - CoinDesk

    • The SEC claims the exchange solicited the Thai public to use its services via its website or the "Binance Thai Community" page on Facebook.
    • That means Binance is operating an unlicensed digital-asset business, the regulator said.
At some point the world financial system is going to have to come with grips with the fact that money and financial services can now be run on the internet. Just as brick and mortar stores had to change to compete with online retailers, big financial institutions are starting to move into the decentralized finance space to stay relevant. As usual the private sector is moving faster than the public sector and they're going to keep bumping into the archaic laws that were made nearly a century ago. How long can the current system (full of inefficiencies/middlemen/unnecessary fees), fight the democratization of money? Probably quite a few more years.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

fact is if u can afford to invest, and forget the layout, any investment is a gamble... BUT a gamble whereby u fix the odds and how long the ride lasts. one gamble = as many gambles as it takes to win = loading the dice in ur favour. stress free ?, for me yes. but then im fixing the odds.

im currently holding 3 coins in 10 separate bits/investments. it just so happens these three coins wont go up enough to sell, or down enough to buy, so a loss of volatility, in my take of it. i have commented that i think the stocks will crash between now and sept, i dont follow other exchanges, other than the odd glance, but the set is showing signs of a slip. keep ur cash for the crash, not yet tho.

The Metropolitan Police has seized nearly £180 million worth of cryptocurrency in a record-breaking operation.
Detectives seized the funds as part of an ongoing investigation into international money laundering.
The haul is the largest of its kind ever seen in the UK, topping a record of £114 million which was set by the Met just a few weeks ago.

In May, the National Crime Agency warned ‘criminals increasingly used cryptocurrencies to facilitate money laundering [in the last 12 months], at least in part because the pandemic made it harder to move cash’.

A report released in May found that ‘cryptoassets’ are also used more and more by criminals to ‘buy and sell commodities, such as drugs, using online marketplaces found on the dark web’.

According to a statement from the force, the Met’s ‘economic crime command’ acted after receiving intelligence about the transfer of criminal assets.

The Met did not disclose what type of currency has been seized.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested on June 24 on suspicion of money laundering offences and released on bail.
The same woman was interviewed under caution in relation to the investigation and has been bailed to a date in late July.

Detective constable Joe Ryan said he expected the investigation to ‘continue for months to come as we hone in on those at the centre of this suspected money laundering operation’.

Deputy assistant commissioner Graham McNulty said ‘cash still remains king in the criminal world’ but investigators are increasingly seeing crypto used as a means to launder dirty money.

He added: ‘Whilst some years ago this was fairly unchartered territory, we now have highly trained officers and specialist units working hard in this space to remain one step ahead of those using it for illicit gain.

‘The detectives on this case have worked tirelessly and meticulously to trace millions of pounds worth of cryptocurrency suspected of being linked to criminality and now being laundered to hide the trail.

‘Those linked to this money are clearly working hard to hide it. Our investigation will stop at nothing to disrupt the transfer and identify those involved.’

good story HB , in contrast to that the coin dealers that i checked out, before making my choice, all had very detailed requirements for security, plus the money's in and out all go thro fiat banks so how money laundering is done, im in the wrong game.

SCB 10X, Siam Commercial Bank’s venture capital arm, said it is preparing for the potential day decentralized finance (DeFi) upends traditional banking.

Speaking with CoinDesk via email on Saturday, Mukaya Tai Panich, chief venture and investment officer of SCB, said DeFi possesses everything traditional finance has today.

“When we looked at DeFi, we thought that it is possible that one day banks and other financial institutions will be completely disintermediated,” said Panich.

That includes credit/lending, asset management, insurance, trading, derivatives and prime brokerage, Panich noted.

In economics, disintermediation refers to the removal of intermediaries from a supply chain, also known as cutting out the middleman, in a given scenario.

Imagine if you had the online equivalent of a bank but it was decentralized, and all the profits went to the users of the bank, instead of the shareholders?

Oh crap, the SEC is coming to 'save' us.

But wait... What's this... From out of nowhere the CFTC enter the fray!!!

There's money to made and the gubmint agencies want a piece of the pie and they're ready to fight for it. Meanwhile countries like Japan, Singapore and even Thailand have decided not to stand in the way of innovation and profit from the actual use of crypto technology instead of putting up barriers and then charging a fee to pass.

    DeFi - decentralised finance

it has been the new buzzword for the last year with all these people trusting "smart" contracts , and placing their tokens ( mostly ERC20 tokens running on the ethereum blockchain ) with these liquidity providers to earn sh1t tokens in return for lending their tendies .

there has been a string of "smart" contracts fcuking up - starting with the original ethereum DAO clusterfcuk back in 2016 - but people are blinded by the greed

Hacker of the Biggest Cryptocurrency Heist Returns $260m

Hours after the incident, however, the hacker began returning the cryptocurrencies to the network. As of the recent update from PolyNetwork, only $268 million worth of Ethereum remains to be returned...
In his clarifications, the hacker states that keeping the heist money was never his intention. Rather, he wanted to bring to the attention of the PolyNetwork team the vulnerabilities in their system. Hackers who look for system vulnerabilities are called White Hat hackers, and usually contact the company to fix the issues before any harm is caused.

While praising the system, the hacker said that he spent a good amount of time finding a vulnerability to exploit, but needed to make a big scene, so that the PolyNetwork team would not patch up the gap quietly and without informing anyone.

In his comments, the hacker seems to be fond of cryptocurrencies in general and wants its influence to expand in the future. However, he pointed out his dislike for Dogecoin, calling it 'a joke', explaining why his exploits did not include the cryptocurrency financing a mission to the moon.
Steal millions to make a point about security and the pointlessness of dogecoin. Hackers are weird, and PolyNet got very, very lucky.

Maybe the hacker will burn the ETH in a series of high gas fee transactions to prove how crap that is as well?

Here is a story for bitcoin.
Back before i came to Thailand I lived with friends for around 3 months to clear out my home to sell.
The lady of the house is a it engineer or whatever you call them, self learned at the time(2011) but had been doing it for 10 years that I knew her.
One day she sais to me, Dek, you should buy some "bitcoin" I said "fuck off, you cant hold that stuff in ya hand" what if the power system goes down.
Bitcoin back then was about 12 cents or 1 dollar 20, cant remember. it was cheap.
So that is my experience with bitcoin. I even got a Thai legal account back in 2014 when it was 20,000 baht for 1 coin but never followed through.
So if you ever feel the need for Bitcoin advice, just ask me and then do the opposite, like CNN news.

I've moved most of my Portfolio into Polkadot.
I started buying it at $4 last September and now it's $27.
Get a nice 12% interest on Kraken.
I think it's going to $200 this year.
