    Fortuner Drivers... WTF??

I am sure it has been discussed before, and I have not really asked any Thai's opinion but have heard other Farang speak of it.

What the fuck is their problem?

I have seen them drive crazy before but yesterday on a big bike ride outside of Bangkok saw a new black one with red plate drive like the biggest asshole on the planet, weaving in and out of lanes riding right up on peoples asses, basically just being a pyscho nazi from hell.

Without fail every time I see a Fortuner on a highway they are driving like complete assholes, see it with others SUVs and cars but nothing like the Fortuner crowd.

    Any explanation for this phenomenon?

Nope, but there's something to it I think.

Maybe it's a personality thing: certain people choose certain types of vehicles/cars?

I actually feel that it's the only time in their whole existence where they are in total control and are free to do what the fuk they want.

So when they hit the road in their motor their little brain implodes and it's game on.

I love driving on Toll ways and Seeing Somchai hitting 600 KLM per hour.

I can say with certainty that I am the safest, most courteous driver in Thailand and my Fortuner has nothing to do with it.

I came to the same conclusion in Indonesia many years ago.

My missus picked our car/Fortuner. I was happy with a 4 door pick-up. There really wasn't much available 7 seater wise in 2007. We needed an SUV for family reasons. Only reason why I think some Fortuner drivers tend to be a bit aggressive on the road is because they make you feel bullet proof. They are a solid car and feel that way when driven. I've never had an accident in one in the 9 years I've driven one. They only happen in my rear view mirror.

    Toyota Wish?

I don't actually know if they were available then (think so though) but we got one for reasons that were probably similar to your own.

Hated buying it but now consider it probably one of the best cars I've ever owned. Would've got another but they discontinued them for some reason.

Ahh OK, mine was all town driven so no issues there.

Really was a great car though. I never understood why they stopped making them.

To be fair, it's usually only the ones with a police or army emblem attached to the grille.

fortuners, like the vigo pickup they are based on are fine, strong and reliable vehicles.

i find that it is not fortuners, but lowered honda accords of a certain vintage with black windows, funnel exhausts and big fat wheels that are the greatest danger on thai roads.

^ what about the pickups with tyres that bulge out from the wheelarches and the multistory warehouse mounted on the back driven by a somchai who does not own it and has in his mind that --- well absolutely nothing in his mind.

No doubt it is a lot of non stop craziness on the Thai roads, but hard not to notice without fail the complete douche bag Fortuners every time running up your ass and flashing their lights.
