Good shout. It's probably my lager of choice in the UK. And I've been known to tuck into an award winner or ten while on Siamese soil.Originally Posted by greentea

Superb.
Now, that looks bloody good , somtamslap! Moules you say? Something that I miss here.
If I list the 5 beers available in Thailand as my favourites which ones will be my least favourite?
Well Leo is cheap and tastes fine so long as it has been the the freezer for a spell. It seems better paired with spicy beer snacks rather than drank alone IMO. San Mig is nice enough on its own.

Any cold beer, right here, right now.
Simples.
Kronenbourg 1664 blanc. A wheat beer, and the first beer I have ever truly enjoyed drinking. Great neck oil.
Pale, slightly hazy yellow colour with quickly disappearing creamy white head. Aroma: Citrus, fruity. Taste: Sweet malts, citrus, banana, slightly bitter, some sourness is hiding. Light body, medium carbonation. A bit sour but pleasent finish. At summer it’s great light drinking beer. Refreshing.
Doom Bar
Pedigree
London Pride
Directors
Old Speckled Hen
There are clearly a lot of Shifters on this thread, no new news there then...

(That reminds me, I should probably brush my hair at some point this week...)
Anybody that lists Tiger and Leo in a top 5 of beers obviously has serious issues, no offence (but are you Australian?)...Originally Posted by greentea
There are endless great Belgian beers such as Le Chouffe (the fella is an amazing racing driver too) and Tripel Karmeliet.
Guinness is great.
Cass is pretty shite, but far better than any Thai beer.
All French beers are terrible; that 1664 is utter shite.
As a kid, back in Jamaica, I used to drink Red Stripe (or was it North London?).
Cycling should be banned!!!
Wadworths 6X
Fullers London Pride
Marston's Pedigree
(all cask pulled, obviously)
real Budvar
Coopers Stout
Correction: (For Betty)
All lager drinkers are southern pooves.
And if it was Jamaica it was prolly red stripe.
Watneys Red Barrel
You really shouldn't be looking too far outside of Europe for the best stuff and that will mainly be centred in Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic. Plenty of good quality craft beers coming out of the UK and the US too.
Kolsch (preferably Fruh) and Spaten from Cologne and Munich have lived long in the memory, while a Pilsner Urquell in Prague always hits the spot. In Belgium a Jupiler is pleasant as is a Krieken (cherry beer) if I'm looking for something a bit sweeter. This list would probably change on any other day as there are just so many to choose from.
Although I drink them, the likes of Leo, Tiger and Singha are as poor as most other beers in the region.
Old Rosie
Burrow Hill Dry Scrumpy
Midford Cider
Biddenden Dry Cider.
Thatchers Chedder Valley Cider.
I prefer it out of the barrel but no delivery to Bangkok feck it.

Depends which country I'm in.
In the UK, avoid Lager, Sam Smith's or Webster's were good choices when I lived in Leeds. lots of real ales I like, couldn't pick a fav.
In Germany, almost all Pilsner is good quality, in my hometown "Alt" which tastes like a cold, fizzy Bitter is a speciality.
In Asia I go for a San Mig Pale or Red Horse, Archa is fine, too.
Poof. Innit!Originally Posted by Latindancer
Not sure if it was the Alt or the Jaegerschnitzel that kept me going out there. Maybe both. lolOriginally Posted by stroller
