this should be good. bring it on tel. lol .

question, is there an official holder of a shanook/deed, with a lease on it. ie the lease holder or the owner.. i have two leases , hold one shanook and the land owner holds the other. any ideas of the legalities ? .

What's a 'shanook'? Do you mean 'chanote'?

So there lob, from the cursory, but pretty accurate summary from Siam Legal about a "chanote", which catagory does the land 'you say' you hold a chanote on fall under?

    Inquiring minds wanna know?

Also just exactly how did you go about getting a white person's name on the front of a chanote in the first place?

I have heard of a German who holds many chanotes on his properties. It's a matter of paying someone in the land office enough to allow it to happen.

I really don't think you understand the differences in land titles. A 'Chanote' title is an all singing piece of land that can't be taken from you. A 'Sor Bor Gor' title land remains kings land until it gets full 'Chanote' title and can be taken from you if certain conditions aren't met.
The only way a farang can have his name on a title is if he inherits by death of his wife. And then he must sell it to a Thai within 12 months. I'm led to believe.

^ I think that I do know the difference. What I am saying is that someone has taken a bribe in the land office and put a farangs name on some chanotes. How legal that is is another matter.

It's legal if the name is of a Thai national. Say I leave my land to one of my children. Or divide it up between the 3. They are Thai nationals but have farang names. If you know the difference between titles then why can't you spell 'Chanote' correctly?

Can't a farang get his name as a leaseholder onto the title?
I suspect that's what the OP meant.

Depending on the situation or property - Foreigners can have legal claim/name on said chanote.
