    never had it done there.

the queues at immigration are occasionally horrendous as they use fingerprint recognition for every passener...

You might be right, but they seemed to stream every arrival through the check point.

I stopped and watched for a while.

At least 2 irate European looking types arrested and dragged off for ducking under the dividing tape and attempting to walk past the screening.

    People were not amused.

That only takes 2 seconds and their procedure is far quicker than how the Thais do it. IMO.

The delays come because the Malaysians question a lot of tourists, unlike your average Thai immigration guy

The Singaporeans seem to be very arrogant.
    Not in the least subservient.

Which they should, be . . . subservient as the master is white . . . kind of if he's Welsh!

KLIA is quite simple and straightforward, not as fastidious as Singapore . . . took me less than five minutes to get through KLIA Int'l immi and customs last week

Checked in 2 bags at the Thai Airways ticket counter in Kathmandu on Oct. 1. Then passing through the departure security point, they removed a mountain climbing harness from my carry-on backpack b/c it contained a lot of hardware: carabiners, a jumar, etc. Luckily I was able to talk the Thai Airways rep into putting it into a separate bag and relied on him getting it on board. It actually didn't get on my flight. But Thai Airways delivered it to my condo in Chiang Mai the next day. Had no hassles screening just my carry-on bags at BKK and no screening of any of my luggage at CNX but the procedures are never the same. Still like Thai Airways the best.

I fly into Changi a lot and in my experience they have additional security checks on arrival about 10% of the time.

    Oh and hello CMN.

    No, really.

Arrived from Auckland at about 8.30pm - straight through to the counter at immigration . . . no hold-up at customs.

    Literally five minutes

normally when you fly in from a country where the airport security is likely to be bypassable - like Thailand

and this is not just changi - I have had landing checks at other airports after flying in from an airport whose staff are not considered exactly efficient
