It is indeed lovely and the fish and chips shop is now famous everywhere . . . in NZ and Thailand

A neighbour who is into restored antique cars asked me if I'd fancy a drive to see some other collectors and restorers who keep their cars outside the city in country sheds . . . sure, why not:

I really liked the latter . . . and simply need to get many tattoos to drive the first one.

. . . love the wings . . . from wip to the completed beauties

The owner is actually selling the one on the left . . . to make room for another clunker he bought in the UK to restore.

    These people are nuts . . . car nuts . . . and the cars that they drive are lovely . . . now, if I were not broke . . . hmmm . . .

    ^ Cool.
(you'll regret mentioning you're broke, certain posters will be drooling and frantically saving that information.)

Close to four years on . . . the place isn't bad, though the politics suck big time, council rates are huge, the Auckland petrol tax stinks, it's friggin freezing and windy . . . and I'm glad I'm overseas over half the year.

Spent the past week-ends at our 'bach' (week-ender) near Mount Ruapehu - pretty as, cuz. Hiking and /or skiing (disgustingly expensive), eating trout (which you can't buy buy must catch yourself) and getting brilliant winter veggies.

Fog in the mornings can be a bit annoying

All in all . . . not a bad place, though the chip on their shoulder re Australia needs removing or re-balancing

Our 'bach', aka weekender, just a short drive from Mount Ruapehu and the ski fields, about half an hour from Tuapo.

It's nice to get away for a while, especially when I've just returned to NZ, tired of big cities
