Losing Ya " Super ". Ya shittin yet ?

The vast amount of Retired Australians have a large portion of their Retirement money wrapped up in Various Superannuation funds.

Usually it's in the Accumulative side of a Superfund and is open to market forces.

In the good times some very nice money can be earned but in the bad times some serious money can go bye bye straight down the shitter.

It's happening right now, markets are tanking. Last month I dropped 25 K and this month most probably a heap more.

Now I never worry about It, I'm in the Game with all the other punters who have " Super " So we all crash together.

Also I have my Own gaff so " WTF " EH.

If I get broke I just go home and watch Telli for the rest of my life with all the other broke punters. Eat noodles and other shit.

Are you worried about losing all your stash ?

I'm not worried but now I'm off to buy a new Samsung Tab S 10.5 just in case tomorrow I ain't got the coin.

    I'll check back later.

Oh yes, I'm not going to Issan to live on 30 K a month that's for sure.

    A massive " Fuck That ".

I got beat up some in 2008. Government IRA (two). Had no control of where the money was invested and couldn't get it out until I was 59.5 years old. Powerless feeling.

I was lucky as I made the age limit in time go cash in the bigger IRA before the full crash hit. My financial guy said to leave the smaller one for six more month so it was cashed in in the next tax year.

Normally that would have been good advice. But, nobody knew how bad it would get.

Dropped about 30% on the second one.

Please tell me that your income is not derived from some Mickey Mouse company that pays higher returns than everybody else. I had a rich uncle who was reduced to poverty because he invested money in an American company which went bust.

Firemen in the UK have their retirement income protected by the State so that they cannot do silly things with it.

There is an advert currently appearing on UK televison that encourages those with funds to invest with it in order to get high returns. It isn't regulated by the FCA and it is an accident waiting to happen.

My pensions are UK inflation proofed and guaranteed and I can afford to have a relatively comfortable life in Isaan wth them.

Terry, your "super" was fuelled, inter alia, by a bull market that has lasted nearly four years. It's ended now and I rather think with the way things are likely to go for those sorts of funds, living on 30,000 baht a month in Isaan will be a reasonable outcome.

Global interest rates rising, commodity prices dropping and a bear market = Terry in his Ute up in Nakhon Nowhere selling noodles with his handbag in their moo baan.

Most, if not all, can be found in Isaan. With some it's just a case of knowing where to look. What's 'Civilisation' by the way?

Have to agree with that. The big city is a cesspit and a nest of vipers, both foreign and domestic.
The big brand facade of malls and hotels hide a real seamy side of life in the back streets and allys.
Congestion, rudeness and pollution, you can keep it.

The whole of Thailand is a cesspit but with compensations of varying kinds. Their society, however, remains constant throughout and is equally flawed wherever one might be.

wow Terry, losing 25,000 in a month is bad.

I have all my super rolled over in an accumulation plan, over the past week I have dropped $700, but I still have $400 more than I had six weeks ago.

BTW. my super plan lets me invest my money at eight different levels of risk, and therefor different rates of return. I can change the investment level at any time. At the moment I have mine shared between the second and third lowest level of risk.

Problem Terry, if you took early retirement you are only allowed to work 10 hours a week, no dole.
30,000 Baht a month will go further in Issan then Perth, you would probably need to sell your house and become an urban outdoors-man [homeless]

I don't think Tel would be much affected by poverty. He would still be the same old Larrikin.
