    Close Call

A ten-wheeler lost its brakes early this morning on the road that runs in front of my subdivision and goes into the city.

Five kids riding in their school service van were killed, a dozen more people were injured. Condolences to all the families of those killed or injured.

My kids were in their school service van only three cars in back of the van that was hit.

How fast things can go to shit....RIP kids.

Sickening to hear about those kids. Hopes that the other injured pull through.

Very glad to hear your children had better luck, Davis.

Thanks all. It's actually hard to believe that the numbers weren't much higher. It was early morning, and almost in front of De La Salle University where my kids go, along with literally many thousands of others; there are about six other schools in the area and, at that time of the morning, the shops and sidewalks are jammed with kids on the way to school.

I've only spent six months in PI but in that time I developed a healthy respect/fear for their roads and anything bigger than a childs bike. Glad your kids are ok Davis.

Don't know how much they actually saw. Waiting for them to get home. No texts or calls from them yet, so that's probably a good sign.

^Turns out they didn't see much. Their service driver spotted a hole in traffic, and swerved around the debris. He then did his job and got the kids to school.

My son said huge truck came flying out of nowhere, crashed, and that there was broken glass all over the place and crushed cars. That's all he saw before the driver cleared the area.
