Do you find the word c.unt offensive?

Is it more offensive to North Americans?

I am having a slow day so decided to bait the NA's at Dave's Cafe for using retard as an insult. I have mentioned before here that I don't like it

I know that DD blocked it as the only word in his swear filter that we can't use directly. Was this too be nice to the seppos?

It seems to have a 5 star rating and girls don't like it at all.
Like other swear words it depends on the context.

I use kuntly as an adjective quite often.

^ interesting. its one of the differences between the merka and england. saying kunt a pretty big no-no in the usa. just saying in many contexts would get you in fairly deep shit (ie written up, sent to some sex discrimination seminar, or an ass kicking). it aint the same as "nigger" is to blacks but its close. it is viewed as offensive or even nearly assaultive of women in general. fookin cvunts havnt a clue!

It also seems that being a 'nigger' or a 'paki' is about as low as one can be. I can't agree with the 'nigger' one, most of them are alright.

long time ago in the usa i worked residential care for delinquent kids. i asked nicely for a woman coworker on a unit right next to the one i worked, to please turn down her music as it was disturbing a group we were doing. she, loudly and repeatedly, in front of all her kids/clients, called me a racist. (white woman apparently with biracial children of her own and the music was afrocentric). i asked to speak with her privately. she agreed but ran from our little meeting sobbing and wouldnt come out of the bathroom. this left me with all her kids unsupervised and in a bit of a bind. it was afterwords alleged that i called her a "vicious cvnt". result = i got investigated with no official outcome. for years threre after she would not speak to me and spread rumour that i was a racist. most folks howled with laughter. but many never cracked a smile. for all its shrill shit about openness and freedom, the usa can be a wierd place. i continued on in my checkered career a bit less blissfully unaware. cvnts.

I don't find it offensive. The word I really hate describes the same area of a woman and rhymes with cringe. It really does make me cringe to hear it.

Curious that "twat" is much further down the list.

Language is a strange thing, English swearwords don't quite get to me in the same way as my native language, I suppose it's what was instilled to one as a kid which has the most impact.

I wonder when and how the US and the UK diverged on the meaning of "fanny".

Interesting one, even if it is an old thread. It is one of the words I used to find very offensive. Since being on here, though, I've found I don't bat an eyelid at its use, although I still won't use it at all.
I don't think it can be its meaning though, as twat means exactly the same & I freely use that. Maybe it's the sound; harsh & gutteral. I don't think it's a word you can say in a nice way. However you said it, it would always sound cold & hard.
