Guess a Chinese death is not as note worthy.

Interesting point in that we more or less ignored the Japanese invasion and occupation of Asia - hell, almost like a swarm of picnic ants in their land grab - borrowing a chapter from the Reich.

Although we did make a good Hollywood movie about the Buffalo Bridge.

It wasn't until Pearl that we made notice of the uhm... "Rising Sun".

Funny how that works within the Euro-centric mind frame....

Why would anyone think it odd that people in the West would pay more attention to a massive fucking war going on in their own backyard instead of a war going on halfway around the world....... Things were moving pretty dramatically in 1930ies Europe..... Is it odd that people would be more concerned about being over run by the Waffen SS than fretting about what the Japanese are up to in China or the S. Pacific.?

There are many thousands of Allied servicemen buried across Asia as a result of paying "attention" to the Japanese, and war historians have written extensively about the war is Asia and the atrocities committed by the Japanese, who have gotten away with unspeakable things and have never even bothered to issue a decent apology in more than half a century.

Instead they have been in almost total denial and at the same time have managed to lay a big guilt trip on us (or at least the US) for dropping a couple of Nukes on them.
    I blame the Americans......and Thaksin.

All aside, seems as your cherished historians have been absent and forgetful [generally speaking] as how to rewrite historical perspectives and historiography at large.

    To be expected.

I blame FDR for waiting until Pearl Harbor to engage.

Me old boy was sent to the PI months before the Japs invaded Pearl Harbor and then the PI. Of course he knew what was coming.

    Sure...
Well understood that the Americans needed a war or two [both theatres] to bring themselves to life.

Needless to say, the very active, clandestine and conflictive roles Americans played all throughout the Asian rim throughout the 1930s, protecting "their interest".

Would you mind explaining just WTF you're talking about....... What "conditioned world view"? Do you have your own take on this or are you just posting nonsensical bollocks for the sake of it.....

I'm sure the Japanese official Imperial historians have given a different account of events during their excursions into China, Korea, and all across the S. Pacific that would not entirely match with the accounts of countless others that were victims of Imperial Japan's expansionist sorties, but hey we can all believe whatever version of historical events we like best. can't we?

Any thoughts on that Nanking business? ....or was all that just an illusion created by our Eurocentric conditioning.....?
    I blame the Americans......and Thaksin.

Overall what do the Yanks have to celebrate?

Yes, their Jewish contacts have taken over all commercially important positions globally, manipulated situations accordingly, lost the Vietnam war which really didn't matter in the big picture and since they dropped nuclear waepons on Japan have tried their best at trying to stop everyone else from doing the same.

When they brought Japan to their knees..............was an invitation to every other potential super power to do the same!

And with due respect to all my American friends.

...actually, the historic [and present day] list is endless.

Doesn't have a place here, for we wouldn't want to offend the conventional illusion that most imbibe with historic/cultural reality.

^Sadly that is the reality of it all since likely WWi or maybe WWII. War is big business.

Nowadays I only see Memorial Day as a 3 day weekend off work and a marketing frenzy to get sheeple to go buy new cars, TV's and all other consumable products on sale and toss out their perfectly good working one. Every store will be packed. In fact just this morning I got no less than 20 ads for stuff on sale all with a big banner saying "MEMORIAL DAY SALE". The TV is flashing them from every car dealer.

On Edit: No disrespect to the men that served. I lost an Uncle in the Vietnam war.

Now, the good side of the Memorial Day weekend celebrations - lots of sales. Lots of shopping traffic at the stores.

Northeast US, beautiful weather, folks are very happy, good start of three day holiday, BBQ's, picnics, baseball, parades, etc. Lots to be happy about, everyone feeling good. And it shows.

On the basis of the above:

I just got back from a Buddy Poppy fundraising drive. Today, raised USD $2,200. Best on record - previous record was USD $1,700. Very good deal.

Money destined for entertainment functions hosted at three local "old soldiers homes" and VA medical centers.

Last month did a movie night - with pizza and soft drinks, a "monte carlo" night; cards, dice and roulette. We provide the residents with canteen chits as the prizes.

Also did a trout fishing field trip - a dozen wheelchair bound veterans to a local fishing hole with stocked trout. all caught some. excellent day for them.

Today was a very good day. After last month I needed to refill the Posts bank account and today was a most successful event to that end.

Wasting you breath BM, debating guys that hate the US- because their Uncle Bob and Aunt Nan told them to.

Yeah the Ruskies fought hard. And so did the Americans, Brits and ANZACS. The Allies also provided a lot of material support to the Ruskies. Poor sailor boys that often met an icy death in the North Atlantic convoys.

300 million Americans protecting 500 million Europeans from 150 million Russians.

Gee, you can really learn a lot on this forum. The USSR defeated Germany and Australia defeated the Empire of Japan. I think I can go back to reading the Sunday funnies now.
