I remember sitting in my mates room at his parents listening to this song not having a fucking clue that meanwhile, in Vietnam......

Jimi Hendrix was on my turntable a lot at that time along with the Doors, Stones, Bob Dylan an Janis Joplin. Those were the days....

I cannot reason how this Bob Dylan song and the Vietnam war had anything in common apart from the fact it was written around the same time.

Some interesting trivia is that both Mitch Mitchel and Noel Redding got the hump when recording the song (hendrix was a perfectionist) left the recording studio, and Hendrix played drums and bass in their absence.

What we hear today is Hendrix 100%, bass, drums, guitar and Vocals but credits were still given to them.

I met Zuma Sultan several times when i was living in NY, as he was a frequent houseguest of my landlady's. (He's the guy who played percussion with him at Woodstock). He believed that Jimi was done in for sure...he said he was asleep on the couch at Jimi's 5th ave apt last time he ever saw him. Jimi stuck his head in the room to say goodbye, then got on the plane for Paris...
