CERN - The Large Hadron Collider - In Search of the God Particle.

The God Particle - National Geographic Magazine

Of course, the question remains, once they have it, what will they do with it?...

^^Maybe it is one of those Schroedinger particles that can both exist and not exist at the same time.

It is up to you which you choose to believe but you can never prove either proposition.

    Ahh... Perhaps Leonard knows.

Penny: "So, what's new in the world of physics?"
    Leonard: "Nothing!"
    Penny: "Really, nothing?"
Leonard: "Well ... with the exception of string theory, not much has happened since the 1930's ... and ya can't prove string theory, at best you can say, 'Hey look, my logic has an internal consistency!' "

CERN - truly an expensive think tank, but someone has to employ all them doctorate physicists. Wouldn't want all that valuable education to go to waste, now would we?

Of course, the question remains, who makes more, a Master Plumber or a research Physicist?...

What is the call-out charge for a particle physicist?

Good luck getting a plumber to show up for less then $80

80 quid. Phfft, a plumber wouldn't send a pikie interloper for that amount.

Trust me on this one, that has never been a question. The plumber wins hands down each and every time.

Correct, question is rhetorical, and don't intend to hi-jack the thread.

Do you advise your kids to pursue academics or trades?...

All depends, do you want them to have money or a career?
