Thread: Woman Uncovers Two-Way Mirror in a Bar Bathroom

Comedian Tamale Rocks made a pretty shocking discovery in the bathroom of the Cigar and Stripes bar in Chicago.

After noticing a full-length mirror across from the women’s toilet, she poked around and discovered that it was a two-way mirror.

“I noticed a full-length mirror opposite of the toilet,” Rocks wrote on YouTube “Curious, I explored and discovered that it was two-way mirror, the door behind it cut away to allow an unobstructed view of the toilet ... and anyone who may be using it.”

Rocks documented her unpleasant discovery and posted it on Facebook on Sunday. But after the video hit 4,000 views in 20 hours, she uploaded it to YouTube, where it has already topped 1.6 million views.

The bar owner, Ronnie Lottz, has come out defending his decision to have a two-way mirror in the women’s bathroom.

He told the website Jezebel that the mirror has been there nearly 15 years and that he would rather burn the bar to the ground than get rid of the mirror.

“We’re synonymous with Halloween,” Lottz told Jezebel. “We do a freaky family fun day, and all the kids look in the mirror. This is a fun house, honey, and if you don’t like the two-way mirror, go f--- yourself.”

Lottz believes that Rocks’ video was simply a way to grab attention.

“I have to tell you this,” Lottz told The Huffington Post, “The woman who recorded that obviously has had a little difficulty with her career, and everybody is looking for that niche right now. They just gotta find that viral video.”

Well, the video has gone viral, and it prompted a police investigation on Monday. Authorities say that it appears no one’s privacy rights have been violated because the door is always kept unlocked, meaning anyone using the bathroom can open the closet door and see if anyone is inside.
