Christmas 66 with Joey Heatherton...amazing legs. Hope demanded all sorts of crap and forced commanders to submit or under threat he would not show up in their zone.
Gave our command fits finding all the crap he demanded...no fan of Hope, but then he did it when nobody else was...Met Nancy Sinatra as well and had a photo with her, but its been lost somewhere in space...Yup Koojo, The bad good old days.
Christmas 1968 - He came, but I never saw him. We were doing some hard fighting up on the DMZ against NVA regulars - nobody ever came up that far North except an occasional Filipino band.
My Dad saw him in 1966 though.
Good on him - nobody else showed up.
I saw him in a restaurant Palm Springs one time.
Though never attended the shows [too young and little interest], had the occasion to know of these grand productions - twice in the sixties, Saigon - and another in NKP....I believe it was '71/'72.
His troupe were known to perform a couple shows per year - not just one singular Christmas show. At least one in the war zone and another somewhere in Thailand....Udon, Korat, NKP, Ubon
