    Magazines you subscribe to

Reading a thread & the polyglot says he reads Thai Penthouse. Never knew such a thing existed. Anyway one thing led to another, and I'm thinking the last time I read Penthouse was in the pre-internet porn era. But I got all proletarian and those Penthouse bimbos whose shit doesn't even stink lost their allure and I subscribed to a Pom porn mag whose women were more like the office bird I was lusting after when I worked at an engineering job. That was niche marketing before the word niche was even well known. Then internet porn came along. End of story for porn magazine. However, I never lost my liking for magazines, and even in these days when digital editions of magazines can be bought, I'm still partial to paper and the peculiar sensuality it provides. But of course, these days you can have the best of both worlds, didn't you know it. I'm a sucker for purchasing a subscription to a magazine which publishes in both a paper and digital format, and end up reading most of the magazine content online while waiting for the printed edition to arrive. So the magazines I subscribe to ...
Silicon Chip. Aus magazine for 'hardcore' electronics enthusiasts. Actually I don't understand much of the theory beyond Ohms law but I do give the occasional circuit construction a go. It's a bit like painting by numbers except with soldering.
CSMonitor. US current affairs mag whose content I find quite independent from right or left influences. It took me a long time (number of years) to subscribe to this publication as I am a life-time atheist and the CS in CSMonitor stands for Christian Science. But the mumbo-jumbo is limited to the back inside page and can be easily avoided.

KS KS and Chewit Jin, I buy for the mrs. They are a mine of useful info, such as man landed on the moon in 1966 and George Washington was English. They are a source of endless argument, she thinks they must be right cos they are Thai magazines, I call them comics

True, but no nation is immune to loose 'facts'. Quite right to call them comics.

Unfortunately, print mags/journals [and the market] are slowly fading and giving way to the manipulating way of electronic editions.

True, the business model favours electronic but paper goes places no electronic gizmo can go.

back pocket, android not comfortable there... in bag with water bottle not unknown to occasionally leak... unceremoniously thrown onto back seat of car so pickup whore can sit on front seat; and then unceremoniously thrown onto car floor as pickup whore is particular about what goes up arse. Paper doesn't break or short out. Gizmo's do.

I had this magazine delivered every month when I stayed in BKK in 2002-2003.

I should hasten to add that the reason was because I was running full-page, colour adverts in the magazine each month.

(Er... maybe that needs a bit more explanation!!).

Suffice to say, after careful analysis of the print copy each month, I binned the magazines, where apparently they were resold at a high price by my cleaning lady, (who presumably thought that I was one helluva sicko...)

Never knew that existed. But there should be an age limit of 90 years.

Actually the publishers - Goldstar Publications - did publish different mags offering content up to about 70 years old. Some of the pictures were stomach-turning, but the old hags being shafted by a 20-year old black stud loooked happy enoough.

It was quite cheap to run ads as a package in all their mags. I used to advertise in maybe 10 different top-shelf mags each month, and they were all posted to my Saladaeng condo.

Of course, I am no longer involved in such a perverted (but lucrative) business....

Since you’re out of it, what product were you promoting?
