Marijuana kills Cancer Cells Says US Government.

Marijuana kills cancer cells, says US government-funded research

Research could indicate that US government starting to recognize medical benefits of marijuana

The US government may be starting to officially recognise medicinal benefits of marijuana, as a government-funded research group has released a report claiming that weed can kill cancer cells.
The Daily Caller reported the National Institute on Drug Abuse has issued a report that recognises potential medical benefits of marijuana, something the US government has rejected in its classification of pot as a Schedule I drug – along with heroin, LSD and ecstasy.

“Recent animal studies have shown that marijuana can kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others,” the NIDA report said.

“Evidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can shrink one of the most serious types of brain tumours. Research in mice showed that these extracts, when used with radiation, increased the cancer-killing effects of the radiation.”

Writing in Molecular Cancer Therapies, one of the study’s lead authors, Dr Wai Liu said: "We’ve shown that cannabinoids could play a role in treating one of the most aggressive cancers in adults. The results are promising … it could provide a way of breaking through glioma and saving more lives."

Several US states allow the use of medicinal marijuana – and a few allow recreational use – but the federal government still bans marijuana use.

The Justice Department on Wednesday released a statement that said while it will not stop states that allow medical marijuana from carrying out their programs, it will still go after marijuana users.

The Daily Caller said scientists are also conducting preclinical and clinical trials with marijuana and its extracts to treat numerous diseases and conditions, such as HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s disease, and inflammation

I hope they just finally legalize it before I go Tits up.

Be lovely sitting on my 14th floor Balcony in Bangkok smoking some nice quality mull.

Might just use my free fly points and blow out a few weeks lost in Amsterdam.

Long way to fly though Innit.

A lot of people known this for a long time.

Not likely to be publicised as it will destroy many pharmaceutical corporations.

Well actually there is no way to be discreet about smoking Pot in my Condo.

It stinks like shit so everyone would know the big nosed farang was on the good stuff.

I have a fantastic roof top terrace on the 35th floor, can't smoke shit up there, security cameras everywhere.

So that said I just don't bother at all in Bangkok. Rarely smoke at all these days due to the hassle.

Yes, well knowing hard core alcoholics for 20 years the result is the same.

That said a few joints and a few beers never hurt anyone unless they had no tolerance to either drug.

Use all in moderation my friend is the name of the game.

I had the same problem in Bangkok, Terry. My neighbours bathroom and ours seemed to share space above the suspended ceiling tiles in our bathroom. The ceiling just let enough gas through to make ours stink of his cigarette smoke. Eventually I bought some gap filler and a caulking gun and sealed off EVERY tile and crack in the ceiling. It's not expensive, and I did it in easy stages.

One time, I stuck my head up through a tile I removed and had a look around in the ceiling space, and could see a channel which the air seemed to come through from his bathroom.
I bought some expanding foam from Home Pro and squirted that in there, but it wasn't till I completely sealed up the tiles that it didn't come in anymore.

As far as having a spliff goes, once your bathroom is sealed, just close the door and have it in there, then come out and shut the door. Open the door 15 minutes later and all the volatile aromatic compounds have disappeared.
I myself have given it up, but I used to do this years ago.

I didn't ever like Thai stuff anyway....it seems to be mostly Cannabis Indica, which just knocks you out. None of the really "feel-good" vibes and active creative feeling that Cannabis Sativa gives.

You must have been smoking about the time I was. Thai stick was all you could get in NZ at the time. Then the homies came in and started growing locally. Truth be told today's dac is probably more powerful than the pot of yesteryear. It's been bred selectively over several plant generations precisely to get that effect. But yes, the days of thai stick and purple haze... just about to comment good old days but some of them days weren't so good.

^^ Ah well...get the buggers to fix your bathroom ventilation problem themselves. It is their problem after all.

Secondhand cigarette smoke is worse for your health than you think....especially after your smoke exposure through your work.

Thai stick going back to the late 80s in the south of Thailand was potent, lots of happy singing people around the beaches then.

50 baht for a big bag,was on the beach for 3 weeks in Samui and couldn't smoke it all.

You're talking a load of shite there.

Be honest - one of your mates (who happened to smoke weed) had a brain haemorrhage.

Probably would have had it earlier if not for the weed.

    And Bob Marley?

Died of cancer that spread quickly from a football injury to his toe

Do you know how many attempts on Bob Marley and Peter Tosh's lives there were??

Oil and "smoking weed" are very different too.

My mate dropped dead from a brain hemorrhage age 40. Guy rarely drank and had maybe two joints in his whole life.
