Well I just thought I would start my teak door life with a thread I hope it’s not too boring.
Being an English man abroad comes with the knowledge that we are imo a well respected nation throughout the civilized world but I would like to ask has anyone on here come across the reverse racism that exists in many of the places I have lived and worked.[not happened much in Thailand i may add].
Let me give a few examples.
Many times I am stopped at checkpoints where on producing my British passport I am waved through without so much as a bye your leave.
Many times whilst driving I am stopped and on producing my British passport I am told in no uncertain terms to continue on my way.
Many times on entering secure area’s while numerous citizens of other countries are being body searched I am waved through without so much as a glance after producing my British passport.
I find all this very disturbing and one can only assume that the people who are supposed to be law enforcement officers can blatantly disregard all the rules just because you are holding a small red book.
Do any other members have this despicable behavior thrust upon them while travelling or working abroad.
I must admit it does from time to time get very embarrassing being singled out and I sometimes think what it would be like to be normal,I suppose we shall have to live with the burden of being British on our shoulders.
I am quite sure that this does not happen to all British subject’s [I may be wrong] but do any other nationalities suffer with this reverse racism.
Thanks for reading.
