Dressing Down for ‘Jilboobs’ as Ulema Council Issues Fatwa

Jilboobs, is a play on words, a Jilbab is the Indonesian headscarf that many muslim wear, and boobs are boobs, obviously.

Jakarta. The highest authority of Muslim clerics in Indonesia has issued a fatwa against what a leading Indonesian news website has dubbed “Jilboobs” — women who wear a jilbab, or Islamic headscarf, but skimp on adopting entirely the conservative dress code by wearing “tight” clothing below the neck.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) met on Thursday in Jakarta. The MUI is composed of clerics from Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, including Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, and has a broad range of responsibilities including issuing halal certificates and advising the government on policy.

“The MUI already has a fatwa against pornography. But that means that you should not show the shape of the body by wearing a jilbab, but with tight clothing,” said vice chairman of the MUI, Ma’ruf Amin, as quoted by Liputan6. “The MUI strictly forbids it.”

Ma’ruf applauded Indonesian women for electing to wear the jilbab, but was critical of individuals who had elected to dress as they pleased.

“We respect those who are already wearing the jilbab,” he said. “But for those already wearing the jilbab, it should not be vulgar.”

I doubt that the 80%, or thereabouts, of Indonesians who are nominal Muslims by legislation give a flying fw*k about the Ulemma, except when pressurized by hordes of sex-starved young Muslim males looking for victims.

May the titty revolution go from strength to strength!

There is no such thing a a 'Fatwa'.

Human beings will decide in a democratic fashion what is and is not acceptable behaviour for their local community.

It is not up to an unelected community of religious fanatics to impose moral rules on how the community behaves.

This is the 21st century not the 14th century.

Many countries in the world are not democratic, and plenty have leaders who like to dictate what is and is not acceptable behaviour.

That's your opinion but in some parts of the world religious fanatics do impose moral rules on how the community behaves - in Saudi Arabia, for example. In other countries, Thailand now for example, unelected people like to impose their moral rules on how the community behaves.

Erm...members of the Queensland Police Force (or those in other states, for that matter) are not elected democratically. And there is a very strong Catholic element there. They don't admit it, of course, but if you look closely you will see that those in power are usually of that faith. Perhaps not as fanatical as Muslim extremists, but weird all the same.

They impose rules on how we behave in the way they actually implement laws. So it's happening on your very doorstep, mate.

There is no such thing as a 'fatwa'. It is a figment of the imagination of religiously deranged extremists.

Do you want members of the queensland fire service individually elected democratically also?

I didn't say I wanted the police service elected individually.

I just dislike the way they keep the force loaded with people of the same religious ideology and self-righteous moral persuasion. Or the way this spills over into how they implement and enforce the law. And how they close ranks.....though this part is common elsewhere.

I don't know why you are in such denial today, Looper. In the mood for trolling, perhaps?

Fatwa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fatwā (Arabic: فتوى‎; plural fatāwā Arabic: فتاوى‎) in the Islamic faith is the term for the legal opinion or learned interpretation that the Sheikhul Islam, a qualified jurist or mufti can give on issues pertaining to the Islamic law.[1] The person who issues a fatwā is called, in that respect, a Mufti, i.e. an issuer of fatwā, from the verb أَفْتَى 'aftā = "he gave a formal legal opinion on".

There is no such thing as a fatwa.

It exists only within the fallacious framework of a fundamentally flawed radically religious view of the social organisation of the human animal.

Normal in raghead lands and dictatorships.

The rest of the world is a little saner, and have a healthy scepticism of their "glorious leaders", the fwkn posers.

Coppers elected into their roles? Cops "impose" rules?

    Only in Lalaland.

Cops aren't elected but charged to perform their duties under a legislature of some form imposed on them by an elected government.

Sure Qld cops were always Catlicks, Masons rule elsewhere in the force.

Your claim that Catholics rule in politics is totally absurd.

Selective cognizance is your problem, splitting hairs.

    You said;
"...you will see that those in power are usually of that faith." (Catholic).
