Thai modelís unbelievable rant about Chinese tourists

A THAI model caught up in a stampede of Chinese tourists has posted an angry rant online about their behaviour.
Duangjai Phichitamphon was waiting in line at the tourist tax refund desk at Jeju International Airport in South Korea when a group of Chinese tourists apparently pushed her out of the way and jumped the queue.
“Not only did they cut before us, not only did they step over our feet, not only did they pull my hair, now they also push us out of our queue,” she says.
The video was originally posted on Phichitamphon’s page. It has since been taken down, but versions of the video with English and Mandarin subtitles have been uploaded to Facebook and YouTube with more than two million hits. WARNING: OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE

“I can’t stand this”, “Chinese people unbelievable”, “Didn’t their parents teach them manners?” she says.
Phichitamphon also accuses the Chinese tourists of leaving the airport bathrooms in a disgraceful state.
“And let me say the restroom at the airport in Korea ... if you didn’t bring your own tissues ... allow me to say it’s so dirty.”
However the rant has been criticised by many as racist and prejudiced, stereotyping all Chinese tourists as behaving badly.

“This video is so absolutely disgusting!! For this lady to openly promote racism and to also be extremely rude to the people in the video and for herself, to also push across the crowd with a SELFIE stick while recording — absolutely offensive and hypocritical. No subtlety in shots fired towards China and Korea,” wrote Rawrrrr80 on YouTube.

“Please do not GENERALISE. These are Mainland Chinese, you don’t see overseas Chinese from Singapore Malaysia HongKong or Taiwan acting like this. Give CHINA time, she is still growing,” wrote joko ko1.

“How could people be this closed minded, I have been travelled to many countries and met bunch of people with different backgrounds. There were definitely good and bad people among all of em and its nothing with nationality. Those people in the video may be rude but they are not representative, millions of chinese people around the world are doing the right thing while not getting recognized while those people are the one destroying the image of Chinese. I have seen bunch of Americans spitting and talking loud when I was in India, so are all the Americans rude and being stupid. They are but not all Americans,” wrote Anthony Chen.
Cashed up Chinese tourists have been taking the world by storm, with governments relaxing visa requirements in a bid to attract their lucrative dollars. More than 100 million Chinese tourists went overseas last year.

But the influx of tourists has also landed them in hot water, with accusations of poor manners and a lack of cultural understanding. The Chinese government has launched initiatives to ensure Chinese tourists are better behaved overseas after a series of incidents made global headlines.

A Chinese teenager caused a furore after vandalising a 3500 year old Luxor Temple in Egypt by carving his name into it, and an unruly Chinese passenger on an AirAsia flight led the Chinese state media to condemn their citizens, saying they “behaved like barbarians.”

Earlier this year, state media in China reported that the National Tourism Administration will now keep records of problematic tourists and the head of the country’s tourism body, Li Jinzao, announced a new tactic to publicly shame those who engage in conduct unbecoming of the People’s Republic.

If one wishes more credible evidence of mainland Chinese peasant manners then I would suggest the HKSARs might have it in spades.

They are quite horrible people with a herd mentality more redolent of wildebeeste on their migratory path.

I've seen Chinese tourists behaving badly in Thailand, but the only one I got to know at all was a very polite and friendly doctor who was visiting Bangkok for a conference. I noticed her at the park next to Emporium- in particular that she had left her camera case unattended on a bench. I had to tend to my son for about 10 minutes, and when I noticed her again she was in a considerable panic because her camera case, with an expensive Nikon inside, had disappeared (she explained it to a Mandarin-speaking friend who happened to have also taken his son to the park that day). I had noticed a group of Thais milling about the area around the same time I had noticed her, and had a hunch they had made off with the camera case. I chased them down and when they denied having seen a camera I asked about the one that was making a camera case-shaped bulge in the plastic bag one of them was carrying. Sure enough, that was it. They sheepishly handed it over and I returned the camera to the Chinese doctor. Poor thing was in tears. She emailed me after returning to China, and now I have a friend in Beijing, although I think I'll wait til the air pollution clears to go.

I didn't believe that until I saw some of the idiotic silly behavior by the families of Chinese people lost on the Malaysian Airlines flight that disappeared. Sure they had reason to be grieving and upset, but what did they expect to accomplish with the silly protests that blocked airports and traffic along with the hysterical overacting and exaggerated performances for the TV cameras?

Did they really think anyone or any government was happy about the situation, or that such protests could possibly accomplish anything?

That seems pretty tame. Try the bus station immigration check point between Shenzen and Hong Kong some time. 4000 people in hand-to-hand there.

Not sure what all the fuss is about British tourists Americans Aussies all get the same treatment around the globe, its just that there is so many Chinese now, spreading there wings about, most of them don't know or understand different cultures, just a matter of time before they settle down, so of my best friends were Honk Kong Chinese.

    Urm,

I would like our friend the Horn blower to provide examples of Thai people jumping ques, pushing people and generally being pigs.

Everyday I travel on the Sky Train in Bangkok, sometimes it's rammed full.

The Thai people form an orderly Que lining up waiting their turn. Never do they force their way onto the train or start pushing people.

To say other wise is complete Bull shit and misinformation.

terry, sometimes i wonder if you really are in thailand or you just inhabit a dream of your own making.

whilst the skytrain is certainly an example of how thais can be encouraged to behave in a civilised, considerate and thoughtful manner whilst enjoying the western designed, western made and western constructed technological improvements to the third world dross they have become accustomed to, i think a visit to any railway booking office, immigration office, post office, market stall, or bus station is urgently required in order to re-calibrate your poorly tuned, out of sync and corroded memory banks.

    Jesus Tax,

I do wonder at times whether you and Thegent are the same poster. ????

I can't call it for sure but it's so close I'm always wondering.

Anyway, concerning your post. Its untrue and simply Thai bashing once again.

I frequent all those places you mention and have never seen anything related to that which can be compared to Chinese mainland heathens.

You're simply away with the fairies again.

Those night caps are getting stronger.

Those rose tinted glasses, with the reflection of the cottage and the nice little pool with ducks. really need to be updated to the classic reality version.

Its quite Ok to trot that well worn line out mate, I do not mind at all.

Its easy to counter, I offer up Examples of why I say the Thais are organized and well mannered when it comes to Queuing.

Feel free to add examples where the Thais can be serious competitors when it comes to the Main land Chinese scum.

    Go on Your Turn.

Terry whatever i said you would disagree with, possibly because your entering your twilight years, they give you a bit of leeway.

Though the majority of posts in the thread seem to disagree with your theory that Thais are lovely friendly respectful organised(lol) well mannered, how about open minded and flexible.?

Although as a Thai she's taking the piss moaning about Q jumpers I still think all Chinese should be rounded up and shot, unless they can cook or are sexy.
