    Gum Surgery

So I had a root canal last week and it was amazingly painless and easy, compared to one I got 40 years ago that was brutal. So today I went in for gum surgery thinking it will be even easier with just a little slicing and pulling and stitching. Man, was I wrong! 90 minutes in the chair, and there was so much yanking and grinding it felt like getting ten extractions. No pain really, until 70 meters of stitching thread was pulled through the roof of my mouth, but having your mouth splayed open while a dentist rappels inside your mouth was just tiring and surprising. I should have had a clue when the dentist said she was going to "remove some bone". I tasted that part. Ever had one? They should call it tooth and bone jack hammering as "gum surgery" sounds so mild.

The good thing about getting serious dental work done in Thailand is that serious opiates are cheap and plentiful.

^Damn right they are . Lots of meds readily available to get through such things. I had a double root canal done in one sitting that took 3+ hours apparently, 15mg of Dormicum taken 20 mins before hand sorted that shit right out. Woke myself up from snoring sometime during the procedure, felt nothing, and have almost no recollection of anything that happened. Thank God for Bennys!.

Always feared going to the dentists and being told ''Your teeth are perfect Mr Gazza, but your gums have got to come out.''

I have had a pile of work ,, done over the years , just about every tooth root canal led etc no probs really ,, worst bit of the root canal is having to have your jaws jammed open for such a long time .

I cannot imagine having to have my jaws jammed open for 70 mins ! jeez

I am surprised that kind of work isn't done under general
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Not sure of the correct term, but they had to make room for a lengthened crown. A root got infected from a cheap dentist that went too deep two years ago so in an extended process to get that resolved.

Nice thing about the higher end place I am going to is that all the dentists so far have been women. They sure seem to know their stuff and am glad to have smaller fingers in my mouth. Still was a long event and have a bit of swelling today but fortunately no pain. I think the 5% alcohol Leo rinse last night was the key.

Gum surgery for gingivitis is massive and takes multiple trips to the Dentist office. Afterwards large copious amounts of Wild Turkey are consumed to ease the pain, blood letting and swelling.

Of course the instructions are to do massive teeth brushing, water picking and generally gutting your mouth with various man made appendages to insure cleanliness and remove any large boulders that may hang up from time to time.

All this is but a futile effort to save ones pearly whites, but nevertheless is a gold mine for those who are still paying off dental school costs. All those who've had root canals can expect those teeth to eventually rot out and fall into your next big Mac.

Yes, dentists, one of my most hated species on planet earth. I could have bought three Porsche 911's with the money I spent in their offices over the years. Take my advice, buy the Porsche...

    Pretty sure 70 x 1 minute is a different experience to 1 x 70 minutes......
