Thailand is one of a hundred countries in the world that's corrupt, and there are tens of countries in the world far more corrupt still. Thailand's corruption is the most un-noteworthy, non event imaginable and yet these people are completely besotted by it.

They come on the Internet every day of their lives to state the bleeding obvious and believe they're being informed and knowledgeable when they do. All they actually do is highlight their miserable dissatisfaction.

But not half as weird as some spasticated, dribbling buffoon whingeing about those who complain about it.

If it is so " un - noteworthy " why are you, well, noting it?

Go play pool with some whore or something. Seems to be your level.

"Un-noteworthy"? This discussion is now officially beneath you, The Gent old chap.

I do hope there is some follow-up to this case. It will be interesting to see if outside pressure, plus other pending cases involving Phuket land office fraud, has any effect.

By the way, if you look back to a February 22 article by Drummond you'll find what appears to be his take on what happened to Vard. Something in it for everyone. Here it is, paragraph structure and all:
ONE LAW FOR THE RICH AND POWERFUL - THAILAND'S HUMAN RIGHTS AND JUSTICE TRAGEDIES - Andrew Drummond
The story of Jessie Vard and her father who had all his investments in Thailand stolen from under him is of course alarming.

But its commonplace I am afraid to say. It demonstrates a complete and utter breakdown in Thailand’s justice system.

And I am afraid it demonstrates that foreigners are fair game.

It also demonstrates that Thai police will never be called to task unless there is a massive public outcry.

But foreigners need not feel paranoiac.

This happens to Thais as well and on a massive scale. If you are a member of a minority there is little hope.*

This is a crime. It is an extraordinary crime and not one witnessed elsewhere in its scope and sheer brazen audacity.

Obviously, he regrets it in much the same way one might regret getting on a night bus driven by a drunken moron and you lose your leg in an ensuing accident caused by him. Or, like Toby Charnaud, you marry a Thai and after many years she has your brains bashed out and your body placed on a BBQ pit. I'm sure he too would have regretted it if he could. But the thing is, marrying a Thai or getting on a bus is quite lawful and thousands do it without thinking they are swimming with sharks or that if death or maiming arises it is their own fault.

As indeed is buying property. There are rather a lot of them on the islands etc.
Getting on a bus or marrying a Thai isn't an act of greed or ill-thought out stoopidy.

Thinking "My country is going down the shitter, look, that island 6000 miles away is doing fine, let's move there lock stock and barrel and invest everything I own. The place owes me a living, and I'll walk away having doubled up my fortune whilst the poor local peasants can't get a look in edgeways"

He failed to factor in that those poor local peasants might not take too kindly to him turning there with his riches and financial exploitation expectations of their country.

Er, the "organised criminals" the story refers to are (or were until they took Card's and other's money) financial peasants in comparison to the millionaires they prey on.

Wow!! This bloke is so on the money, so in tune with what's going down In LOS, so cutting edge it's frightening. Perhaps he should try and make a living writing a blog or something.

If it helps you sleep I can be whatever you want me to be.

What I consider strange is people who regurgitate the same tired shit day in day out, year after year as if it was the first time they'd ever said it.

Go back through this forum and you'll find stories just like this one, and the exact same people will be declaring how corrupt Thailand is, how bent the cops are, how Farangs are cash machines and targets for unscrupulous Thais etc etc. When there's a similar story in a year from now the exact same people will again do the very same thing.

At what point in your lives will you come to the conclusion that it no longer needs saying? At what point will you realize that you're just maniacally repeating yourself? At what point will you stop defending gormless people for making gormless mistakes, instead choosing to blame the corruption that's existed since for ever, and exist in a multitude of other countries including Western developed ones?

My guess is never. But hey, what ever gets you through the day.

Let's put Thailand in to perspective so we are in a better position to judge the levels of corruption compared to the levels of stupidity of the man in the OP and the obsessive mono maniacal attitudes of the a huge percentage of regular forum users.

On a list of 175 countries (it's far from being an exact science but it certainly has some merit) 83 countries are deemed to be MORE corrupt than Thailand. That puts Thailand in the top half!

So somebody give me one single logical explanation as to why so many weirdos are literally obsessed with the subject? People choose to live in a country that on the global scale isn't unusually corrupt and talk about it every single day as if it was the most incredible, hard to fathom situation their tiny minds can grasp?

Here's the countries that are MORE corrupt than Thailand that nobody ever seems to want to acknowledge, in a desperate attempt to justify their pathetic xenophobia and ridiculous choices to live in a country they don't like.

This story is a little bit special, and is part of an interesting pattern of real estate problem-related stories coming out of Phuket. Perhaps not interesting to you- you seem more interested in attempting, rather feebly, to demonstrate your superior wisdom in contrast to other farangs. And if stories like this serve as cautionary tales for witless farangs who might be looking in on TD, so much the better. The interesting thing about this scheme is that has more complexity than that in the average "bad girl rips off dumb farang" story.

As to "At what point will you realize that you're just maniacally repeating yourself?," you might want to ask yourself that question. You've been attempting to make the same point ad nauseam throughout this thread, under the guise of making a contribution, and then you accuse others of being tedious. What was your previous nic, by the way, or is guessing that meant to be part of the fun? How puerile.

well, if mods keep banning folk etc then it is inevitable.

Who gives a flying fuck, anyway. He's a bore in any guise - posting lists is just so tedious and smacks of homosexuality.

Not only dog-housed, but banned even . . . How long will the mods accept his crap this time?

Actually I thought I had mellowed out over the years, Jesus mate, you ain't been around long EH.

But hey, just to answer your post.

I'm not a nasty prick at all and I never wallow in some one Else's misfortune.

If you want to know what misfortune is this is how it really goes.

Misfortune is when a person cannot help himself either due to being born into a dirt poor family and being unable to rise above his circumstance or being physically handicapped and needing to beg on a Bangkok street corner.

    That is misfortune.

Misfortune is not being a flthy rich Irishman who foolishly throws his lot into a corrupt beach resort and looses the lot.

This is simply being fuking stupid.

Jesus mate, wake the fuk up will you.
