Thread: One in three Germans say capitalism to blame for poverty, hunger

Nearly a third of Germans believe that capitalism is the cause of poverty and hunger and a majority think true democracy is not possible under that economic system, according to a survey published on Tuesday by the Emnid polling institute for Berlin's Free University.
The poll of 1,400 people found that 59 percent of Germans in the formerly communist east consider communist and socialist ideals a good idea for society. In western Germany, 37 percent said they considered communist and socialist ideals to be good.
The radical Left party in Germany remains strong in the formerly communist East, a quarter century after the Berlin Wall fell, paving the way for German unification in 1990.
The survey found that more than 60 percent of Germans believe there is no genuine democracy in their country because industry has too much political influence and that the voice of the voters plays only a subordinate role.

One of the by products of a healthy and robust tertiary education is the number of idealists it creates. Not necessarily a bad thing, except it leads to quite a few disillusioned idealists later in life, especially as they end up working for the likes of Bosch, Zeiss, VAG and Siemens.

And they are. That figure should be higher. Unfortunately, Idealism and Realism don't equate because of human avarice. And it's a damn shame.

For many former east Germans to still be disillusioned about this 'freedom' isn't surprising, given that they had the best standard of living in their sphere of living as well as full employment - as fake as that may have been.

Living there at the time there was a huge sense of optimism that re-unification would be a good thing for the country. Perhaps both sides could have expected to keep more of what they felt were the good bits.
I firmly believe that the economic costs were worth it in the end. They did not just roll away the borders, but re-united thousands of families and you cannot put a price on that.
The subversives will always be there, but now they are out in the light, in full view of the public.

Started long ago. East India Company. Even had their own army and flag. Ruled and controlled half the worlds trade. Corporations wield a lot of power these days but by any measure nothing like back in the heyday of HEIC.

Not original, as they learned this practice from the real world overlords for three centuries - The Chinese.

As it is everything the West attempts to make of their own origins, when their true contributions and influence was extremely nominal.

Everything Europe knows was diffused from greater civilisations.
