Best country in Europe to live in

Twenty eight countries to choose from plus associate members like Norway and Switzerland. Varied weather, political beliefs and lifestyles. There must be somewhere here for everyone? Which country would you choose?

South of France for me as well. Speak the language unlike Italian, as much as I like Italy.

Southern Germany for me. Speaking the language is a big help. I love France but they don't have the same love of Brits and resolutely refuse to speak English. Their bureaucracy can be a nightmare.
On the other hand I do admire the way the French are sometimes selective about petty laws.
Surprised no one has mentioned Portugal or told thaimeme to bugger off.

I would consider Germany as well; speak the language (50% is suppose) as well. Has the added advantage of being filled with eastern European looking filthy blondes, and is the dirtiest filth den of iniquity in Europe. Also, generally I find Germans to be rather amusing as well, great sense of humour and the food is good.

Russia? Why not. Language would be a huge issue of course but everyone I know who has lived there for work say its a great place to live.

Portugal is nice too like the Algarve region. I could handle living there for an extended period. So long as the locals have patience with my Brazilian Portuguese accent!

Russia has always been European in familial culture.

Germany for me having lived there and being of German decent make it an easy choice. The people are kind and very intelligent. Always up for a good conversation. Being the cleanest country on earth is another big plus.

If not Germany I think I would head for Austria or Northern Italy.

Nice weather, clean, low crime rate, access to everywhere else in Europe.

Having a Prussian princess become a Russian monarch by default does not move Russia any further west and it remains a non European country. The Isaan bumpkin has no idea as usual, despite his lifelong wish to become native Thai, he will forever remain a Portland plonker.

A bit small and elitist, and damned expensive too. Too many rich celebs competing for a limited pool of pussy. Apart from that I would agree.

While working in Saudi, my plan was always to have Switzerland as a home base while going back and forth from one ME contract to another. I met my exwife in Saudi, also American, and that ended the dream.

Out of curiosity, which are the most affordable countries now? I know Switzerland is not on that list.
