Twenty eight countries to choose from plus associate members like Norway and Switzerland. Varied weather, political beliefs and lifestyles. There must be somewhere here for everyone? Which country would you choose?

Ireland,,,
Nah; don't know
Maybe Greece
(No Iceland on the map )
Southern France
No Contest.
Italia:
Beautiful Churches, passionate people, fantastic food.
Russia....
South of France for me as well. Speak the language unlike Italian, as much as I like Italy.
Spain
Good food, music and nice climate from the north to Barcelona & Valencia in the south.
Southern Germany for me. Speaking the language is a big help. I love France but they don't have the same love of Brits and resolutely refuse to speak English. Their bureaucracy can be a nightmare.
On the other hand I do admire the way the French are sometimes selective about petty laws.
Surprised no one has mentioned Portugal or told thaimeme to bugger off.
I would consider Germany as well; speak the language (50% is suppose) as well. Has the added advantage of being filled with eastern European looking filthy blondes, and is the dirtiest filth den of iniquity in Europe. Also, generally I find Germans to be rather amusing as well, great sense of humour and the food is good.
Russia? Why not. Language would be a huge issue of course but everyone I know who has lived there for work say its a great place to live.
Not in Europe. The former USSR Baltic states are showing some promise though. Latvia. Lithuania or Estonia.Originally Posted by pseudolus

We're quite fortunate to have such persistent knowledge in our midst...
We're blessed.
Germany for me having lived there and being of German decent make it an easy choice. The people are kind and very intelligent. Always up for a good conversation. Being the cleanest country on earth is another big plus.
If not Germany I think I would head for Austria or Northern Italy.
I have never been to Europe but as a passport carrying citizen of Estonia I am looking forward to checking it out in July next year.
Monaco.
Nice weather, clean, low crime rate, access to everywhere else in Europe.
Having a Prussian princess become a Russian monarch by default does not move Russia any further west and it remains a non European country. The Isaan bumpkin has no idea as usual, despite his lifelong wish to become native Thai, he will forever remain a Portland plonker.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

Out of curiosity, which are the most affordable countries now? I know Switzerland is not on that list.
Switzerland for me. Worked a while there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sking, Lakes, forests and lots of goats. Ideal!
A nice link to cost of living in different European countries.
