    Yank vesus Thai in Pantip.

So I'm over at Pantip plaza yesterday when I notice a bit of action going on down on the ground floor.

A Yank around 50 years old has just been smacked in the mouth by some Thai guy, it seems its kicked off all over those DVD copies which are worth 100 baht.

The Yanks young boy is with him, little fella is only around 5 years old. Security are there sorting out the shit whilst the Yank is taking pictures of the staff and shop with his Phone. Nearly got another smack whilst taking pics.

The Yank looked like a right swammy smart arse fuker, no wonder he got a smack.

I mean, whats wrong with these fukin Farang ?

He has his little boy with him and has let an incident escalate to the point where he gets a smack simply because he is arguing over 100 fukin Baht. ????

A few days before that I'm in MBK.

A Canadian guy is going nuts because he bought a pair of bicycling gloves, after he paid for them he tried them on and one split the stitching.

Big guy, big hands more than likely bought the wrong size EH. Top entertainment watching him twisting off.

Security come and he ended up leaving, staff told him to fok off as he had already purchased the product.

Been a top week this one, Its not that common that I come across these incidents.

Might go " The Mall " later and see if there is any action going down there.

Farang Ting Tong . No good.

    Dumb arse Farangs EH.

just to compare customer service in thailand and the uk.

i wanted to buy a pair of shoes from a uk store, i wasnt sure if they would be comfortable after wearing them for a few days. the sales girl said no problem, buy them and just wear them indoors for up to 14 days, if they are not right, uncomfortable or you want to return them, so long as they have not been worn outdoors, just bring them back. naturally i accepted the purchasing conditions and bought them.

in thailand, something breaks as you walk out the shop, and you get a smack in the mouth for complaining.

    fuckin idiot people.

How do you know he was arguing over 100 baht?

How do you not know that the Thai said something rude to him and as the foreigner can speak fluent Thai, he understood and kicked over his stall?

Amazing also how you can tell the difference between a yank and a canadian from a distance.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Shop in shitty low end places and you get that sort of service. A proper shop is more likely to give you give good service.

Terry is going through that phase all disenchanted farang do when they decide to settle in this country and try to see life through what they imagine to be the prism of a chickenhead.

Silly fucker will grow out of it.

Everyone knows chickenheads in any organisation are institutionalised morons totally incapable of comprehending, or indeed embracing, the concept that the customer is king.

In time, say another two hundred years, when they allow competition from the real world, we may see progress but at the moment it's just a question of paying your money and hoping for the best.

Incidentally, Fortune is much better than Panthip with less cowboys.

Indeed Tax, I recall buying a pair of shoes from Marks which were satisfactory but after a mere few months the welt had separated. Sans receipt and debit card slip, I returned the goods and wound myself up to do battle quoting Sales of Goods Act etc. The assistant immediately offered me either my money back or another pair without any quibble. Took the replacement pair and left a happy man.

Thailand has its virtues but generally we accept a loss because the product or service was cheap in the first place and it is not worth the hassle of trying to reason with a creature whose intellect is equivalent to a rather small, uninteresting rock.

Terry will realise one day how badly he is being raped and the thai tinted specs will start to slip. All those 100 bahts add up Tezza.

Just out of interest, do you wear a kaftan and wai to every fucker you see in the street?

That's actually Tourism Malaysia's "I Hate Malaysia" promotion video. It ends with a reduced sentence for sodomy and everyone lives happily ever after.

Maybe the VCD guys shoved some porn in his face and the Yank took exception to this.

The same thing has happened to me many times in Pantip Plaza and I tell them to fcuk off and come back when they can show me some REAL porn.

    Of course.

    With prices to match.

So the comparison with a store in the UK is kind of silly.

A proper comparison would be between Panthip and a market stall in, say, Cannock market, where someone selling moody dvds under the table would be happy to give you a slap at the slightest provocation.

It takes two to Tango. And we don't know what really happened. However what Terry says is true : the guy was a twit to let it escalate to that point, particularly when his young son was present. Probably all over a small sum of money.

People will be pig-headed though. I cringed when I saw a couple of incidents like this in Thailand because having been there for some time, I realized that tantrums and/or being pig-headedly insistent just don't WORK in Thailand. RAREly it might get people what they want, but really it just makes the tantrum-thrower look very childish and uncultured. Thai people immediately look at people like this as if they were dirt.
