For me, it was Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms. When CDs started to be available, I popped down to the local record shop to peruse their selection of precisely 3 CDs.
I ended up buying all 3 (can't remember what the other 2 were..)
In those early days, CDs were mechanically-robust, able to withstand having jam spread on them etc.
I recall listening to Dire Straits every morning on my portable CD player as I jogged to work in Leatherhead, Surrey. I had a job at ERA Technology as a satellite ground station design/systems engineer. Those songs bring back some good - and not so good memories....
