    Falang victims of Thai thuggery.

so how many falang have had probs in thailand with violence and not reported it.??

so terry, ive only been drunk once in thailand in 15 yrs. on the beach early evening. not assaulted. no prob.

walking along beach road early evening. lady pick pocket. i caught hold of her and was attacked from the shadows by one thai bloke with a piece of wood.

three or four threats from gangs of lady boys, over the years, never escalated.

dozens, if not hundreds of aggressive encounters with moto taxi and other drivers. quite the norm here.

a few unnecessarily noisy/aggressive verbalization's in bars when misunderstandings take place. one that makes me smile on recallection. my friend waved the change away, only a few bart, a potentally nasty insident kicked off because the small amount was considered an insult.

and so on... all my bar dealings take/took place on after noons and evenings, before 20 00hrs, no drinking , other than two beers.

fortunately i am not of a nervous disposition , so no effect on me. you are a natural born victim or not, i am not.

so lets see what is the outcome of all the unreported violence.

I have been here 22 years, up until 7 years ago in bangers now in udon, been regularly quite pissed.

Never had any incidents with Thais, only one with a couple of English lager yobs, who were threatening to bottle me,
In a bar Soi22, until they put down the bottle when it was pointed out that there was a BiB standing behind them called by the Thai bar owner before the incident escalated.
Bit boring but that's it, not even one incident with a taxi driver.
There canít be good living where there is not good drinking

I've only had one incident, with a Yerman who played slow. He objected to our desire to play through...

I lived in Thailand for six years - three in Bangkok and three in Aranyaprathet.

I can't recall having even one unpleasant incident involving a Thai in the six years I lived there, or on any of my numerous visits from 1968 until now.

Spent a month once in Phuket, made several trip to Pattaya. Used to drink back then as well. Never had a problem.

Only one incident in nearly 6 years. A drunk German threatened my girlfriend with a knife. She quickly disarmed him with the thick end of a pool cue.
I have never felt threatened by anyone else when we are out together.

Recently won (quite a pretty penny) a court case against a Thai for fraud. Didnít go after them for Breach of Contract cause that will not put them in jail,ÖÖfraud will. Judge said/ordered pay first half in 4 months and last half 4 months after that or youíre going to jail.

    Judge was pissed.

Maybe Iíll do a ďHow toĒ in the members only section after Iím paid or someone goes to jail.

The main reason I took them to court was not get my money back but it was because I didnít want them to think they could do this to another foreigner without any repercussions (that and they hurt the girlfriends feelings).

I was told, just after I arrived in Thailand, not to upset a Thai as he'd likely go away, get a gun, and come back and shoot you. The person below showed that to be false.

An old member on here 'Tsicar' never took shit from them and I watched him kick a guy up the arse all the way across the road. What did the Thai guy do? He wouldn't fook off when 'Tsicar' told him twice that he couldn't have some of his beer. 'Tsicar' liked his beer.

    Mate,

If you choose to live in a shit hole where the worst of the farang gather and the worst of the Thai follow I have no Doubt you have had problems.

To answer your question, I have been coming to Thailand regularly since 1987 and living in Bangkok for 14 months.

In all that time I have been threatened with violence from a Thai only ever once. Ex partner in business, He Ended up being killed by the mafia on Koh Tao because of his nasty ways.

That's it, nothing else what so ever. I've traveled Thousands of KLM solo all through out the country, never found trouble.

I don't hang out in that shit pit Pattaya though, maybe time for you to relocate EH and reconnect with the decent Thai.

Oh yes, Ive been pissed up plenty of times, thing is I'm still in control of myself when turning on a blinder.

Bit rough the next day though.

When one looks at the prime trouble spots it is Pattaya first and Phuket second.

Fuk those places , tourist hell holes.

I believe all these proposed pretense by the OP is largely dependent on where one resides and certainly the circle of company one keeps...

Could easily lead to stereotypical and mythical proportions.

Of course it is, Jesus Christ.

If one is living and socializing in Pattaya its a given one will find problems very easily.

Live and associate ones self with the normal Thai outside of the Tourist Ghetto and these problems do not exist.

    And that's very easily achieved.

We've had 2 murders on the mine site in Laos in the last 9 years I've been here, both of em Thais stabbing the Lao boys , gambling related they tell me, throw in a bit of Lao khao and ya ba and it's on. Never had a problem with Lao or Thai both at work or travelling, most Asians are very tolerant people I find, you really have to be trying to be a cont for the blades to come out, a fair bit of animosity amongst the Thai and Lao here though, but that shit goes back a long ways, (issan was once Lao Land) that's probably still burning there ass

That is such a chicken-shit, sock puppet wanna-b-thai foreigner answer. Christ, how do you live here without a spine? You probably tell other foreigners, "Remember we are guest in this country"!!

I argue with thaiz all the time! Yet, I've never had a problem with them. I also never dug myself into a hole I couldn't climb back out of either. It's a know your audience sort of dealy..

You hang around shit people in shit areas here and you're eventually gonna get some shit thrown at you.

I have had the same experience in Thailand as PP. My first time in Thailand was 1985 and was drunk every night which was my normal state for many years. I had a house in Samui for 2 years after visiting the island on numerous occasions and no problems there as well. It has only been in the last 5 years or so that my alcohol intake has diminished. Many drunk nights in the village among the Thais and only witnessed boxing matches among themselves. You could always count on at least one at every wedding or any other function where there was alcohol.

Am I luckier than the OP? Not sure, but he does seem to find trouble more than the norm IMO. Dont get me wrong, if I wanted to get into trouble, it can be found in a heartbeat. Maybe one needs to look at oneself to see if your actions or demeaner invite confrontation.

For me, violence has only visited me in my homeland. Never an issue in Thailand. It does happen, but not like is being portrayed by many posters.
