Exclamation Delivery by drones BTW its not April 1st

Amazon is to begin trial deliveries in the UK Cambridge area of its goods via drones , this will allow same day delivery and I assume do away with a whole lot of delivery driver jobs.

BTW this is all subject to a whole lot of legislation yet , so don't worry about some ones fridge freezer hovering precariously over you as your sunbathing in your back garden just yet .

I read so many headlines for stories like this. I just crack on; thinking to myself, they'll be doing santa out of a job next.

There's a drone knocking on your door. If you don't answer, it's pre programmed to leave a hand scribbled note with the address of the nearest post office on it.

If it's delivering to a block of flats, will it be able to hover in the lift or fly up stairs?

Yes, don't see it as being practical.

The kids will have great fun with their catapults, knocking them out of the sky.

I'd say it will work with sms or a smartphone app and be opt in only.

You will get a message " A drone is ready to depart to xxx st with your package, flight time is 14 minutes, reply to confirm you are able to accept the package"

The app will have a tracker and maybe even allow the drone to identify you as the rightful receiver.
