    Eating Heads

    Dinner tonight

    Brawn Terrine

    Paella yaso style

We had a pigs head from the pig we bought so i decided to make some Brawn today.

The paella had a load of prawns and a few small fish mussels chicken and some chorizo

The family were watching me aghast with horror pulling the pigs head.

Well we sat down before for dinner, I brought the brawn out with Piccalilli and a liitle salad garnish, the looks on my sons face and wife's said it all.

So i said just try it and see, my daughter tucked in she liked it, my wife and son weren't going to move.

So i asked them you eat fish heads prawn heads, ant larvea and all other creeblies why not pigs head, silence then its a pig head and i say, not want to eat they both say.

So i say to them both well you won;t want to eat the paella then as the fish prawns etc eat shit and all kinds off not nice stuff, no we'll eat that

well the paella came out and the first thing they go for is the heads.

We eat the main course and then son says ok I'll try it, he plays around with it smells it, cuts the smallest piece he can and then slowly puts it in mouth has a look as if its going to bite his tongue, finally hmm that's nice.

Wife has a look at her's and takes the plunge, the both of them tuck in and finally decide its nice and not really worth all the drama.

The wife has just taken some to her friend to try

May do in other parts of Thailand, around here the Pigs head is for ceromonies, laying foundations to new homes, and others ceromonies were a blessing is given, and most of the time left on the spirit house.

Hummm...didn't know that. It would be hard to believe any Thai would not partake in a good pigs head feed...your area prefers dog?

What kind of rice did you use, Yaso?
And was it real Spanish chorizo you used or Issan sausage?

Considering the decomposing pigs face they like so much, perhaps it didn't have enough skin on it?

Chorizo does not go in Paella in Valencia
    Barcelona
    Pamplona
    Sevilla
Motril or any of the many homes in Spain I have eaten it.

Dont get me wrong but charcuterie is usually served first with olives fino or as a tapa.

Many add shellfish which again is inauthentic

Rice saffron bacalo possibly perdeniz quaill or chicken in poorer chickens

Valencian paella is believed to be the original recipe [citation needed] and consists of white rice, green vegetables, meat (chicken and rabbit), land snails, beans and seasoning such as saffron, rosemary and occasionally lemon. Optional ingredients include artichoke, pepper and chicken liver.
