    What Would You Do?

Sitting outside before playing with kids, when this evil old bitch started giving this 7yr old a good hiding, just the look in her face was pure rage, full on slaps to the face and head pulling ears etc.its was a real vicous attack.

I took my 3yr old in so she not see it, there were Thais just sitting there watching and not saying a word.

The kid got a good hiding for asking for 5 baht so he could buy some sweets from the shop.

I went on the road and gave a her a load of abuse, she left the scene very quickly,it was only then that the Thais started bad mouthing her.

Wife came out and told me, she does it on a regular basis.

In my own country i would of called the cops, here i'd most probably get arrested myself.

There's probably more to it than 5 baht but never the less.

Not a nice thing to see and in my experience Thais can be very short tempered with kids. Jai yen yen? Not really! Case in point: I went up to my grade 1 homeroom class to find the Thai teacher screaming in some kids face 'Why you no speak English?' and shoving him about. Kicked the bitch out of the class and made her stand in the corridor. My second written warning haha

Thing is they not understand the chances are the kids will grow up to be like them which is very sad.

Pointless exercise Willy. When you combine ignorance with a poor education it simply confirms the old adage.

You did the right thing. Calling the cops would have done nothing except make a problem for you.

As they say in the villages. If call the cops to help solve a problem you will end up with two problems.

I was outside my place in the Village tidying up the frontage when a young teenage lad came flying out the house opposite. As he ran past me the old grandmother throw a big fcuk-off meat-cleaver at the lad which bounced off the road and missed me by a few feet.
I picked it up and went over and handed it back, telling her she was fcuking crazy and she could have killed me.She then started ranting and raving at me.
The wife came out and said she was a nutter and best to just ignore her .

Sometime living in the village can be a bit like living in a mental institution

We had a similar thing happen about two weeks or so, the Guy across the road is ranting and raving in his house, says to wife whats he going on about.

Wife informs me, he wants his son to wake up and go get the cows, though son doesn't want to, next thing his son races out of home, the dad is going nuts, i think the son has snotted his dad, gets on motorbike, and races off next thing the looney father is still ranting and raving next thing is theres four shots fired off his gun.

Must of made him feel better it all stopped walked to the shop to buy his usual can of chang and starts talking like nothing has happened.

Just a normal day in the Mad house.

    Jack

You should of beaten the old lady - given her a taste of her own medicine

Risk is that you then find out that the original victim had stolen her handbag.

Stay out of all squabbles, irrespective cause, victim etc. Do what the Thais do. Nothing. Not my problem. Some years ago I got involved by saving the woman next door from getting her head lobbed of by her husband. After she came back from the hospital they were a normal couple again. Since then she's never looked my way and I don't think her, or her husband, would give me the shit out their toilet.
Easy to see why police won't get involved in domestic violence out here in the villages. As Boloa said

Yep....bringing police into a instance such as this only creates a greater problem - from all sides.
Allow the immediate social order to heal any such issues - especially when not extended family.

Jacko, have a friendly chat with the moo baan poo yai or what passes for a village ombudsman.
