Thread: Jack Bauer, does he never learn?

For nine seasons now he has been saving the world with his manbag and trusty 9mm.
But, whenever he is captured it goes as follows;
Our hero Jack is tied up and being tortured, he manages some small diversion and kills the one man present, stabs him in the eye with a toothpick or something.
Fair enough, very resourceful our Jack is.

He then takes the 9mm from the bad guy,, but no extra clips and starts his escape from the restaurant, hotel, factory or whatever.
The guy he has to kill outside the room usually has a machine pistol/rifle, he kills him with a piece of string and a paperclip, but leaves the gun.
Then there is a running firefight where he kills numerous people but never collects ammo or weapons.
He then faces Henchman #1 and promptly runs out of ammo and has to engage in a deadly hand to hand fight to the finish.

Did the scriptwriters never play a video game in their lives?

Dexter hands down. (Or "hands off" as will be the case).


And another thing, every time some shit is going down the White House or Senate or FBI has a warrant our for Jack's arrest, despite him having saved the country/world from total disaster the last 9 seasons.
Yet, the very first time he catches the bad guy who has the hidden code/contact/wmd, they fall over themselves to offer him full immunity for his help!!
How about a little immunity for the guy saving the world? Huh? Huh? You know it makes sense....

Yeh, he's ok.
Have to put up with a lot of "For my country" crap, but in the absence of anything else...

^^ Go for it. Start from Season 1 and watch them all.

The last season was fucking pitiful to be honest.

I watched one. It was mindless, but ok.

The wife watched two or three.

Then we both gave up. Same old shit.

I'd have to be really hard up to go back to it.

I think I have watched about 2 episodes in total.

Dexter though - like that one.

^Yep. Wife and I both watched all of Dexter - good stuff. I'm fortunate that wife is a more or less native English speaker, and been with me for 24 years - don't have to explain anything.

Do you have those funny moments where Farangs speak to your wife for the first time and start speaking to her in gibberish pidgin English, usually shouting, hoping she understands? I let this go on for a few minutes until I point out she can speak English better than they can; grammar certainly better most of the time as well.

^No. Not here. Foreigners here expect that educated Filipinas, especially those married to educated foreigners, speak good English.

Although I admit, my wife hates tenses. Perhaps because they aren't used in the same way in Tagolog. She knows the correct use, but is lazy about using the proper tense.

kudos to the producers on the last season, painting the albeit renegade, chinaman as the baddie, whereas other hollywood types recently (red dawn remake a perfect example) seem to be shying away from portraying the chinese as anything other than care bares of shrewdwhatsisname hairy stinky fanny fodder
