    Back on the streets.

Cameto Bangkok 12 days ago and stayed in the boss suites near the top of suki 4.

The streets were completely free of stalls and beggars, came back to Bangkok two days ago still no sign.

This morning there back in force, not looked on suki road so not sure if there back there yet.

Wife decided she wanted some Papaya so we sat, whilst doing the normal chatter thing, she asked the woman how come your all back.

Seems the rental() has now been divided between the two.

Big money to be made it seems. same as it ever was.

Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Give a Thai a paving slab and he will open a restaurant

Part of the character of Bangkok and free enterprise which is frowned upon in most Western Countries.

I hope they never get rid of it 100% but better monitor particularly the food stalls.

Is this another big change/improvement by the junta???

The only change is who gets paid which is all this was ever about; oh yeah, the good people ethics campaign...

    Yep....
Never could understand those who might be down on any assorted street vendors plying their wares. It's been going on like that forever.

Clearly, the Generals' "crack down" some time back was surface rhetoric and politically motivated.

And the shop owners that had to chip away their front steps that encroached onto the pavement in order to make way for a cycle lane ?

Yes....the newly acquired hordes of cyclists [not].

Quite the fashion amongst all the urbanite Thai these days.

Financially motivated. Fire all the crooked cops taking back handers from the vendors. Replace with new crooks so trickle up gets in the "correct" bank accounts.

^Bring back the green buses, the 99 baht for 3 large Chang deals in the sticks, Lumpini Night Bazaar, 500 Baht short times, the disco cart on the night trains, Clinton Plaza, 10 Baht notes (remember them eh?), the Pizza Hut salad bar, The Golden Man (Pattaya), The Enemy of Many (here), The Cathouse drink as much as you can for 200 Baht deal, the fights in The Cathouse due to the drink as much as you can deal, that funny damp smell with the yellow neon lights upon you when exiting Don Muang after a long-haul flight, Soi Zero and 38 Baht L&M reds without the dying kids and open lungs on the packet, and who can forget buying DVD's at 100 baht a pop or going down Mangpong to rent the latest flick.

Excuse me, just having a quick reminisce...
