Mein Gott! Oktoberfest beer breaks €10 mark as rivals beg to be let in

Most of the numbers associated with the Munich Oktoberfest are gargantuan; 6.7m litres of beer and around half a million halves of roast chicken slipped down 6.4m revellers’ throats last year.

One figure is tiny though. The number of brewers permitted to serve at Germany’s annual beer extravaganza: just six.
At a time when beer consumption in Germany is declining – beer sales last year were the lowest since reunification – the Oktoberfest is a rare example of breweries’ pricing power. At this year’s festival, which began last Saturday, the price of a litre of beer has topped €10 for the first time.

According to research by UniCredit, which has tracked Oktoberfest prices since 1985, the cost of attending the festival has risen by an average of 4 per cent each year, more than double the rate of annual consumer price inflation in Germany.
Prices are set by the festival vendors, including the six breweries that are allowed by Munich’s civic regulations to supply the festival, which is held every year at the Theresienwiese, south of the city centre.

We need boots on the ground here.

    Slapper! To the train!

A warm welcome can be expected........

A MALE tourist has been raped after going to urinate in bushes at the Oktoberfest beer festival in Munich.

The 24-year-old from Leeds in England was at the edge of the festival arena at Theresienwiese in the Munich borough of Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt when he was sexually assaulted.

Bavaria Police said in a statement that the tourist was approached by a stranger, who “made it clear he wanted to have sex with him”.

The victim refused. Immediately his head was jolted back and he was dragged to the ground, where a second man held him down while he was raped.

The two men ran off after the incident.

    Sure it's just a coincidence?

Years ago they had troughs under the tables for men to pee in there, no need to go into the bushes.

he should have had on his tourist armband.

    Alright, alright....
It's obvious Slapper and Stokes have a timing issue here and some questions to answer when they get back on on deck,
But lets not jump to conclusions and spread spurious rumors here....
There is no, I repeat no proof that Slapper (gay as he is) and Stoke (buggery expert he is) had any hand (or dick) in this heinous crime.

I'm sure they will answer for themselves forthwith.

I went to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich years ago (my brother and his family live there) and near the toilets they had a do it yourself breathalizer test and a big metal bucket with handles on it so people could vomit in comfort.

Feel sorry for the Leeds guy, probably not his best memory of Munchen.

In 1973 I got arrested outside the Bier Keller in Sheffield. I was charged with being drunk and disorderly because I fell over a fcukin loopy police dog.

Fined five pounds the next morning. B'stards. That was a weeks wages back then.
