    Heading for Blighty

As I need to get a new passport and can't be bothered jumping through all the hoops to get one here i thought i would go for a visit back home and get one whilst there. First time back in 8 years. I imagine I'm going to be in for a shock. Up to BKK today and a direct flight with BA into heathrow in the morning. I then have to get to Kings cross train station via the tube around 5-30 in the afternoon which should be fun.
I wonder what I am going to miss first once I get back ?
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

PS double the amount of cash you think you'll need for poor service from surly foreigners .

A friend recently went back and he said he couldn't get over how much things had gone up. I can't even think of how much getting from Heathrow to kings cross on the tube is going to cost these days

Thiefrow to Kings Cross tube. This is from April 2013.

The cheapest option (excluding buses, which would be ridiculously tedious) would be the tube, which will cost £5.50 per person each way - assuming you are paying cash (you can save money if you get an Oyster card, which drops the price to £3 or £5 depending on the time of day).

I sat in a park and became practically dead.
My lips were blue, my ears were numb and my eyeballs were protruding from their sockets.

I told Clarence to slacken the cord a little.

Pasty is regional fare. Stoker had the ideal opportunity landing at an English sea port. Traditional fish and Chips.

I can never understand why people fly over to Blighty this time of year okay visit family but other than Autumn colours not the best of time for a visit.
We have a bit more common sense and leave for the warmth of Bangkok on Friday.
Getting near Gerts minimum temperature level requirements now.
Fascists dress in black and go around telling people what to do, whereas priests... more drink!

Work is taking me there next week. Over the last several years, it always seems to be October or November. No planning, just bad luck. Last trip back, had to invest in a winter coat. Sat in the closet for a year. Really farking useful thing in Thailand, a heavy winter coat, but got tired of freezing my nuts off.

If you smoke the price of a pack of ciggies will be a shocker, getting close to £10 for the top brands. Petrol has always been a rip off in the UK currently about £1.25 a litre for your 95, was higher. Taxis are a total rort.

On the plus side though with all the supermarket wars constantly on going grocery shopping is reasonable, and from reading about the prices of drinks in Bangkok and Pattaya bars getting pissed up in the UK will probably only cost about the same.

I decided I have to have a weekend at Robin Hoods bay near scarborough. I used to love a day out there. Just found my old Oyster card as well so see if it still works when I get there

Which is a good thing in a roundabout way - because it makes you give up, or severely cut down.

I'm currently tooting my way through one 12.5g packet of Amber Leaf a week - apprx three smokes a day - as oppose to the fucking chimney I used to resemble to Siam.

When in Thailand I didn't smoke a lot if wasn't drinking but when on the piss would basically chain smoke, get through 2+ packs easy on a session. Back in the UK a box of 20 lasts me 4 days although on the rare occasions I do go out for a drink i'll go through a box especially in the summer if sat outside.

    Well I arrived
I took the slow train up to BKK and stayed the night in the Convenient resort 5 minutes from the airport. Clean, comfortable and they have a drop off service every hour. Relaxed breakfast and off to the airport. Took BA direct this time. No queue for flight check in just walked straight up to the counter. Same with security check. A few minutes in the passport check and that was it.
In the queue for the passport bumped into someone I know from samui. He was looking a little worried and it turned out he had 2.5 years overstay. Just after the passport check is the overstay place so I sat with him whilst they sorted it out.
All very friendly and polite and when he came to pay the 20,000 fine the officer even spent 5 minutes telling him how to get the right visa to stay in Thailand long time when he came back.
It seems all the scare stories on the forums have been just that.
The flight was good. Comfortable, good food and a good supply of beers throughout the flight. The entertainment was also first class. lots to choose from and made the time pass quickly.
Getting to Kings Cross also was a breeze. My old Oyster card still had some money left on it from years ago and the guy said just wait 5 minutes and it will cost you just 3 pounds.
On the tube and off at the station without having to change. That was when the prices shocked me. nearly a fiver for a cornish pasty for crying out loud. Needles to say I just couldn't do it so went for the 4 pack instead.
The train up to Darlington was quick and comfortable so again no drama's. Got up this morning and it is pissing down and freezing cold.
Still nice to be back though
