I doubt very much the Iranian leadership care for what history records. Their divine guidance is Allah, and to this end they see it as their destiny to awaken the Twelfth Imam, whatever it takes.

This is why talk of Israel's, or Western nuclear deterrent misses the point completely. Nukes are no deterrent against those that want, defy, and challenge you to use them.

I doubt any Western nation has the balls to even think of considering that as a remote option for placement anywhere near the room housing the table. And if anyone does nuke it, so what, some imam will pick through the rubble in his hazmat suit and miraculously find the black stone, and they will build a new kaa'ba around it for same same. Meanwhile, Europe and the US burn.

I'm sure there's a coherent explanation as to why Muslims worship the black stone in the Kaa'ba, and people often get hurt trying to touch and kiss it as Mohamed is said to have done, yet a 'pious' Muslim will riot and kill to protect his religion from those evil infidels that worship idols, icons and images.
